El Carmen — Restaurant in Los Angeles

We came from Texas and was craving a margarita. This place had great reviews. Parking is limited to street from what I saw, but worth it.

Service: There was a small wait time, but the host was super sweet and prompt in seating us. Our waitress with the two ponytails was beyond attentive and lovely. The bus boys were on it at clearing every table as people were finishing their plates and drinks!

Food: the pollo enchiladas with green sauce were delicious! The beans were a good consistency, but the rice really didn't really have much flavor. The asada tacos were delicious as well. The chips were crunchy, but the salsa was just OK.

Drinks: the Lucha margarita was amazing!! I'm picky with my margs, and this one was mmm mmm good! My husband was glad they had mexican cokes since he's not a tequila man.

While the decor was fun and festive with lucha decor, the space was a little crowded for my liking with people just standing around in the middle, blocking the walkway. Tables are too close together. Also, I'd like to add that it was not nice to hear patrons being rude to our waitress who was busting her tush making sure everyone was taken care of...

This place is just amazing!

We asked to rent the place for a very big and intense event with only two days notice and the owner, the staff and all the El Carmen team were incredibly responsive, fast and kind. The event was a complete success with ZERO faults. Flawless service, attention and care from everyone. It is especially impressive regarding the very short notice.

Food was just incredible, fresh, on time and more than enough for over 40 guests!! The drinks were delicious, with very good prices considering the quality of the cocktails. We will be asking El Carmen to host all of our future events every time we go to L.A.

I could not recommend this place enough, whether you are out on a date or need to rent out the place for a party, you'll find no place that is more friendly and attentive as El Carmen.

EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT! Love this place! We are big foodies and let me tell you the drinks are just to AMAZING, and the food is literally ridiculous! Erik makes the most amazing drinks all from fresh ingredients, The Alex OG's and the Margaritas with Tajin on the rim :)~ are our favorites, they also have an early and late happy hour! The chefs make the best food and its served till LATE! We work late and its hard to get really good Mexican food sometimes cause everything closes so early now even in Hollywood. The Ceviche tostada is legit my favorite cold crisp and delicious, the Tacos are super top notch we have had everything here and its all super delicious and always consistent.
