I absolutely love this place. It’s like I’m back in the Bay Area. Dutch crunch bread is perfect, the sandwiches are large and appropriate portioned with meat cheese and all the goodies. The quality is always consistent. The staff is super nice as well. The lady who rings me up is always super nice and now knows me. I wish there were more locations. If you don’t want to wait 10-15 minutes I suggest ordering ahead, however it’s well worth the wait.
Edit: 12/17/23 2:30pm - lowering to 4 stars for recent bad customer service. My family walked to pickup some sandwiches. It seems Ghost hired someone new to manage the cashier and be in charge of orders. I told her my name and said I was a little early for my order. She said it wasn’t ready and I asked for my drinks which she helped with. After waiting and noticing everyone else get their sandwiches, and after checking inside a few times. The lady at the front just placed my order on the shelf and let it sit there. They weren’t busy, she just lazily didn’t want to give me my food. Seems like customer service is lacking. After realizing this, I walked inside and someone making sandwiches helped me get my food. While the gentlemen helped me, I watched the same lazy cashier let a customer walk away without his drink. She just put it back in the fridge. There used to be another girl who worked the cashier who was so much better, maybe it was her day off. This experience and employee rubbed my the wrong way. Read moreWill preface this review by stating that I’m not really a sandwich guy so for me to rave about one means it’s got to be extra special.
This place has a lot of buzz around it and I’ve only had the Melrose but I can honestly say, it’s worth every hype. I just had it today and can’t wait to go back.
They have hot and cold sandwiches all served on their famous Dutch crunch bread. I’m afraid to even try their other sandwiches because the Melrose was just so good but I feel like anything on that Dutch Crunch bread would be at least decent. That extra heat and toast you get with the hot sandwich really took it to the next level so I’ll probably stick with the hot ones.
Besides the perfect bread, everything in the Melrose was high quality and perfectly balanced. The turkey, Black Forest ham, bacon, pepperoncinis, and their house spread. It just blended so well together to create this magical sandwich with each bite delivering flavor after flavor.
Service was super friendly also. Parking is limited but that’s...
Read moreUnfortunately, my experience with this restaurant was negative. As an Uber Eats driver, I had trouble finding legal parking spots nearby, as there were no available spaces. This took me 3 minutes, after which I entered the restaurant to pick up the order. The employee asked why I was late, and I explained the situation. The worker understood and thanked me for explaining.
However, after completing the delivery, I noticed I had been given a dislike and a bad rating for the delay, which was entirely unjustified. The total time from accepting the order to handing it to the customer was only 11 minutes. This affected my rating and, consequently, my work.
I returned to the restaurant to resolve the issue, but faced complete misunderstanding and hypocrisy from the staff. They claimed there were parking spots nearby, even though it was a red zone and a bus stop — which is illegal to park at in California and can result in fines. The staff were unprofessional and unwilling to communicate or resolve...
