Hinodeya Ramen Little Tokyo is truly a gem. From the moment we walked in, the service was nothing short of outstanding. Our server, Mija, was warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. I also had the pleasure of speaking with the chef—though I regret not catching his name—who shared with us that he is from Hokkaido. We ended up talking about my wife’s and my recent trip to Japan, and his curiosity and kindness made the experience feel personal and memorable.
The ramen itself was extraordinary—hands down the best I have ever had, even compared to bowls I’ve enjoyed in Japan. The flavors were rich, balanced, and deeply comforting. Paired with the Matcha Asahi, poured table-side, it was an unforgettable meal.
What makes Hinodeya even more special is their dedication to authenticity. Every ingredient is imported directly from Japan, and the restaurant has remained in the same family since 1885, carrying a legacy you can feel in every detail.

I had the ramen, which was rich and flavorful with perfectly tender chashu pork, fresh toppings, and a soft-boiled egg cooked just right. The broth was comforting and balanced — exactly what I was craving.
For appetizers, I ordered the Yu Lin Chi (Japanese fried chicken). The chicken was fried to golden perfection — crispy outside and juicy inside. I asked for the sweet & spicy sauce on the side, which worked out perfectly because it let me enjoy the crunch of the chicken on its own and then dip into the sauce for extra flavor.
To finish off, I had dessert: a slice of cheesecake with whipped cream and citrus zest, plus a parfait topped with mochi and whipped cream. Both were light, refreshing, and the perfect way to end the meal.
The food presentation was beautiful, the flavors were spot-on, and the service was attentive and friendly.

Read moreCozy spot with good ramen. Tried it twice so far, for takeaway and in-person. Takeaway was perfect and also with the specific containers that keeps things separated well so nothing is soggy. In-person was very welcoming, with the staff also prompt and friendly. Props to Mija for how kind she was to me and my partner when we went in.
Now for the food: it’s ramen. It’s good. Gyu-don was great and not moist or oily like some places make it. The ramen was tasty (and if you do the gyudon you get a half portion of ramen, which I really like for tasting different parts of their menu without going all-in on one bowl). The main “Hinodeya” ramen is still my favorite, but my partner really liked the Spicy Miso.
Only thing I’m not a fan of is paying for more for added medium spice. It’s more an inconvenience, but in comparison to other places nearby that normally only charge you when you get to spicy and higher, I found it strange.
Overall great!...
