This IHOP never fails to deliver in customer service. My last impromptu visit really made an impression on me. Everyone ( I hope😁) especially in Los Angeles has found themselves hungry after a night out on the town. Well this particular evening, after experiencing a wonderful night of euphoria at Chris Brown's closing show for his INDIGOAT TOUR in Anaheim. My bff and I ubered all the way from the venue to this establishment in the Marina. It had been awhile since I had had one of those epic nights Los Angeles is infamous for due to a life altering 26 day hospitalization, accompanied w/ 4 major abdominal+ 4 blood transfusions. I also live with MH. The strength it takes just to socialize and physically even look healthy is task within itself. Those afflicted truly understand. Sometimes being comfortable in our skin is forfeited because showing externally we're OK is a testament to our strength or story but it doesn't negate the internal battle that exists. Not to get to deep; ( especially on an IHOP review) but I was met with such compassionate customer service this particular early morning I feel compelled to share. I'm not sure what my waiter's name was but his attentiveness ,prompt ability to initiate customer care while providing speedy service needs to be recognized. Sometimes what's perceived to be small genuine actions of kindness can really transform a consumers experience. I as stated previously this was my first girls night in awhile. Due to my conditions I can become extremely lethargic;I also have PTSD& multiple anxiety disorders which heightens without my control. The little nuances to " normal people" *in my mind & body at times can feel and present like MT Everest size Tsunami waves of wth🤷🏾♀️ It can be quite embarrassing. It's around 1am and all I want are some old fashioned buttermilk pancakes with an helping of what I call " the trinity" the magical combination of IHOP's infamous Old fashioned Maple, blueberry, strawberry syrups. To make a long story short. I was ill. I pushed through this particular night bc I felt like I deserved to celebrate the victory of an ongoing tenacious medical battle that almost took my life PLUS my bff was the birthday girl. The fear, shame, and possible embarrassment of ruining an epic night weighed heavy on me *I just didn't want to be that "sick" friend; but the truth was I was. I had discreetly rested my head on the table a few times; and I'm assuming in passing maybe he heard the one or two times I had uttered " I'm tired" but our order was prepared, and packaged to go without request in under 30 mins. His executive decision saved my humility 💛 When people love what they do it shows. When people go beyond the call of duty it's a heart calling lol; not to be misconstrued that I'm saying this gentleman's calling is to be a server but between whatever process IHOP uses to hire & prepare their employees to work and this man's character you guys did it right 😊 It's not talked about enough how "invisible illness/ disabilities" truly effect every aspect of a person's life. Social norms & pressures are real. Folks like me fight these invisible battles to the naked eye everyday. Awareness to what " we" look like and common knowledge on how to service & accommodate those afflicted makes for a beautiful human experience💛
Unbeknownst to some:
A bite to eat after a social outting for some is an uphill battle . Imagine feeling uneasy in your skin 24/7 and having to balance. I'm thankful for my support system and those that reciprocate Awareness, Action & Compassion in totality. I look forward to more refreshing experiences like this. I would love this to be an experience felt daily across the country in all of your establishments. Whether IHOP trained him like this, or he himself supports someone like me idk but it was soooo appreciated. I don't know your name Mr. I wish I could mention it but Thank you & IHOP MARINA not all heros...
Read moreDISCRIMINATION AND HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! Why do 2 "good reviews"-bogus ones no doubt, always show up at the top-when mine is the most recent?! I have looked at other reviews and see the employees get their friends to write good reviews now and then for them, no one else would! No hostess on duty, yet when my son entered before me dressed rather sloppy, and looking for a plug for his laptop he was given dirty looks, and then the "Manager" fussed at him for seating himself, he is 25 yrs. old. Once seated we were waited on in about 10 minutes, only a few other customers in the place. I was not informed that "turkey bacon" was .99 extra, which would have been courteous, but no big deal. This restaurant was not busy, there was only one waitress, yet other employees who seemed to be doing a whole lot of nothing. No one was pleasant, not even our waitress, no smiles, please or thank you for anything. When I asked why I had a charge for turkey bacon, the waitress just responded, "It's extra! It's right on the menu!" I am a white female, I was facing a black man who had sat down after us, and after about 15-20 min. of NO service, he stood up and said loudly, "Is anyone waiting on customers here?!" Then he angrily threw his menu on the floor, and that got attention, he was then treated like a criminal, the waitress and female "manager" yelling at him, as he was told to leave. Once he was gone, and I was getting my money ready to pay, I noticed the staff -all of them in the front, laughing and joking about how they had run him off. I guess the work ethic there is-less customers, less work?! When he returned, they stopped laughing and he asked for the Manager and was told our waitress, who barely spoke English, was the Manager! Rudely throwing their mistreatment of him in his face. I was already heading to the register to pay my bill as this was going on and by this time, I was totally enraged by the treatment he received, so I complained and was told to leave-ONLY AFTER I PAID. They had no fear when I told them I was going to write about what I had witnessed, saying, "Go ahead, you do...
Read moreWhen I entered to the restaurant instead of saying welcome, somebody who is looks like a manager or something ( A demanding lady ) Wes looking at me like why I’m there… and that’s why she said “how can I help you? “It’s like I got lost and I’m looking for an address . After that they gave me a seat, but she was keep talking loudly everywhere and walking around.😂 like she just got into this post as a manager and she was trying to show everyone that she is the manager of there 💀 I ordered one steak that was horrible horrible because of the smell and taste which was like they’re using very used oil over and over. The steak had also a lot of skin and fat and because of that I was throwing up several times. Their garlic bread also was very oily and super smelly . The server was a good person she wanted to change them for me but i was in rush to eat and leave . If they even change that it could be the same ,basically they need to use a fresh oil each time to cook otherwise it will be smelly like what they gave me...
