Just had a frustrating experience with an exchange but in the past have always had nice shopping experiences here. I'll be upfront that I was not blameless in the exchange being complicated. I wanted to exchange a product for another. The person helping me was nice enough but said there were creases as if I wore it. I admit I got ahead of myself and took the tag off but after trying it on with a few things I own I decided the look wasn't the most flattering (which I owned up to even before they noted the crease). They maintained that because of the crease the best they can do is give me a size exchange (which from a policy standpoint makes no sense. If they maintain I wore it why is it okay to give me the same product in another size versus another product which is what I asked for) I've shopped with everlane for years and don't have any history of exception returns. I contacted customer support and they said it's fine to return for a full refund (I told them everything here and even mentioned the crease thing). I dunno. Like I get having a policy but if I can just contact online customer support it just feels like it'd be better for the brand to process the return while I'm there, or at the very least check my account to see if I have a history of pulling stuff like this. I guess I could have argued it further. eventually I just said I'd see what online support could do and they happily said "sounds good". I guess I can't blame them. Service jobs are rough. Take away is it's a nice place to shop, maybe just handle returns online, and be careful with linen pants creasing while you're trying it on with things at home (but probably more importantly don't get excited and take off the tag which...
Read moreGuys, so upset right now. If you enjoy being parent-shamed by a shaggy, condescending store clerk, Everlane Venice is the place for you! This morning, while grabbing coffee at Blue Bottle, my toddler did what toddlers do—she saw an open door and ran inside. I walked in right after her, obviously keeping an eye on her, when the employee on duty immediately snapped, “She can’t run in the store.” Fair enough. I responded with a lighthearted, “I wish I could stop her,” with a laugh because, as any parent knows, toddlers aren’t exactly known for taking direction when they are excited about something. Instead of even an ounce of understanding, this guy looks me straight in the face and smugly says, “You can.”
Oh, really? Please, do tell me more about how to parent, retail guy. I’m sure he has a wealth of experience wrangling unpredictable toddlers while trying to exist in the real world. Instead of being polite or understanding, he doubled down on the attitude, making it clear that a small child briefly stepping inside was, apparently, a grave offense.
Everlane, if you’re going to sell an image of laid-back, California-cool minimalism, maybe train your staff to embody some actual warmth and grace instead of hiring people who get off on scolding parents. No one needs a shopping experience that comes with a side of unsolicited...
Read moreMy friend had a pair of the high waisted denim from Everlane so I came to get a pair. It was initially apprehensive because I haven’t bought new pants in years. The experience can feel demoralizing when the pants don’t fit. Trying on clothes can make me feel so ugly.
As soon as I walked in, Jose was so friendly and funny! He put me at ease right away. When I got to the dressing room, he passed me to Ashley’s (sorry if the spelling incorrect) care. I tried on so many pairs of denim but nothing fit right. Ashley asked if I would be open to non-denim pants. She suggested the Utility Straight-legged pants. They were so great I got two pairs (black and navy). Ashley was so attentive. I loved how she provided feedback and I walked out with pants!
The best thing about these pants is the deep back pocket. My phone is snug back there; don’t have to worry about it popping out.
Lastly, it was not until I wore these pants that I was able to replace my wind shield wipers. I tried for three days and miraculously, they finally slipped out of that j-hook. Coincidence? Or newfound confidence bestowed by these magic pants?...
