Read moreEasily one of the worst service experiences I've ever received or even witnessed at a restaurant. I've worked as a server for 3+ years in multiple different restaurants and never seen anything quite like what happened to us at Sanamluang.
Met a few friends here around midnight-1am on a Friday night and the place was packed. Luckily we only had to wait about 5 minutes for a table. After being seated, it took at least 10 minutes for any of the staff to acknowledge us. Then another 10 minutes before we finally got some water and our orders hastily taken. My two friends ordered the spicy beef noodle and I went for the pad thai. After what seemed like at least 45 minutes they brought out the two beef noodle soups, but no pad thai. I'm hungry, but I don't say anything and just sit and wait patiently.
About 20 minutes go by and still no pad thai. No server to check on us or explain why it's taking so long. I'm worried maybe she forgot and didn't put my order in so I get up and go ask. She starts to explain something about how it comes from a different station. Okay, just because food comes out of different stations in a kitchen (hot, cold, soup, etc) doesn't mean it's okay to bring out entrees nearly 30 minutes apart, especially when that's all we ordered. I express my frustration, in hopes of maybe being offered a discount or something resembling good hospitality but instead she starts yelling at me about how "this is not American food. It's different". I go back and sit down at our table and she continues to yell across the restaurant, making a scene in front of several other customers. Meanwhile I still don't have my entree. Finally she brings it out and drops it off with an impertinent "here you go, enjoy." Then she continues to stare over at our table to the point where my friend had to tell her to stop staring and that it was rude. Then she started yelling/complaining about being tired. FROM ACROSS THE RESTAURANT. Like really? Overall it was an extremely uncomfortable dining experience.
The pad thai was okay. Pretty good actually with a little of the hot chili sauce on the table. But even the best thai food in the world couldn't make up for how rudely we were treated and how poor the service was. Even if you're busy, even if it's late, even if you're tired, that's no excuse for treating guests the way were treated. I won't be returing to Sanamluang. And it's a shame because that beef noodle soup looked really good along with a lot of other things on the menu. Maybe I'll...
Read moreOn Sat. 2-16-19 , my husband & I drove ourselves from Riverside county ( 59 miles ) to Sanamluang restaurant which is in L.A. county 4 our favorite food . Upon our arrival to our restaurant , we sat ourselves outside on the patio with our two lovely pooches waiting for the waitress to come take our order . After 20mn of waiting, still no one insight to come take our order . Hungry & tired of waiting much longer , I then decided to go inside the restaurant to let them be aware that we've been waiting for a very long time , & needs to be served soon . Their reply were that they will be right out soon to help us .
They finally took our order , & with another EXCRUTIATING 20MN WAIT for our food to come , it finally did , except for my husband's order. O M G !! I then ask why isn't his food here yet , & their only reply was that our order came last 4 them 2 make it .
The food was not so very good on my end , which I thought the duck was a bit dried , & not so favorful like it would normally be . The rice was a bit hard as well . As 4 my husband's beef fried rice was lacking the beef , & too much tomato . Although his food was lacking the beef , it was very tasty & very flavorful .
When time came for us to pay the bill , I was short of 1 cent , & told the waitress about it . Seeing her opportunity to get back @ me , in a rude manner she then told me that she will not accept my payment until I will come up with that short change of 1 cent , or give me a dollars for it . I was in dismay , & started to remind her about our bad experience that we have with them from the get go tonight . And still ... no apology from them either .
Luckily for us , the restaurant 's owner heard the commotion , & came 2 our rescue by taking her away . Still very upset from what had happened to us, I did not leave a tip 4 her , although she was asking for it in a very blunt manner !!
I will never EVER , GO BACK THERE TO EAT , as the price of food has been sooo inflated in the last few years . People there has been...
