Oh so bad.
Let me count the ways: Julian/jillian (?) was rude, dismissive, condescending & annoying. This was my first time meeting her and her vibe was uber-entitled. Iāve been to Society in the past for a hair cut and it was lovely. Jillian was thĆ© worst example of a customer-service centered provider Iāve ever had the misfortune of running across.
Instead of giving recommendations or counsel, she literally got angry and stomped off. She started talking louder and slower, repeating herself when I asked for recommendations regarding whether to get a face frame or partial.
I was asked to sign a release⦠ok. Jillian told me she was going to mix my color and I waited. And waited. And waited. Andā¦. Waited.
4 no one offered me a drink, but I saw other stylists serving ice tea, water and other drinks to their clients.
Finally the front desk person stopped by while I was on a call, & told me Jillianās next client was there and someone else would do my highlights. He proceeded to take my bag and earrings and replace me onto a couch. Not another chair.
Iām now pushing 2 hours waiting & no one come to help us. I finished my call & quickly asked a friend who is a hairdresser for the next lace for a quick color update near Melrose. She told me Martinez Samuel. I called. They were kind, easy & less than a mile away.
Iām writing this review while getting a partial, with a delicious ice water in my hand and a lovely conversation.
I would never recommend Society.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreBEWARE OF PRICING! I booked a full highlight & hair cut + blow dry. Based on their online booking system, the total came out to $355. The booking website does say though that this is a starting price, so I figured Iād budget $500 in case of any fees for having a lot of hair, needing a gloss, etc.
Then, when I showed up to the appointment I was suddenly told it was going to cost a whopping $750 for a full highlight or $650 if I just wanted to settle for a partial (which is not what I wanted). When I asked why it was more than double the pricing online, I was first laughed at and secondly told that the pricing on their website is an hourly rate. NO WHERE ON THE WEBSITE DOES IT STATE HIGHLIGHTS ARE AN HOURLY RATE ā I even double checked the website after to make sure.
Ultimately I decided to settle for the partial highlight because even though it was out of the budget I had initially allocated for this service at least Iād get something.
After all of that, the consult began and it felt like the stylist didnāt even care about what I wanted. I tried to explain to her and I could just tell she was checked out and didnāt care look at the inspo pics I brought. I honestly regret not walking out at this point.
She proceeded to chop off way more hair than I asked for. I asked for only a couple of inches, then she proceeded to cut off 6 inches. My long hair is completely gone.
I asked for low maintenance blonde, well itās been a few weeks and I can already tell I have a solid line of root coming in ā no blend at all.
Ultimately I do not recommend going here. Expect to pay more than double the price quoted online for highlights. And even then, the service and outcome are not worth the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI wish when my 16 year old made an appointment at this salon I had taken the time to deep dive a bit into the reviews. Had I done that I would have seen that they have a history of what I would refer to as a "bait and switch" with their pricing. My daughter was clear with whom ever answered the phone what service she was interested in and even was texting pictures. She was quoted $200 which I reluctantly agreed to.
I dropped her at the salon and about 1/3 hour later - after an apparent consultation - she was told no one should have quoted $200 and it would be $400. When I questioned the colorist as to why this drastic increase her explanation was that she was "an artist" and to do the process properly she needed to implement other "treatments". I understand this and do not disagree however, you don't quote one price over the phone and then double it when a client walks in the salon. You simply say that you don't quote prices over the phone and prices are only quoted once the "artist" sees your hair. Period.
Unless you are the parent of a teenage girl you probably can not imagine the complete meltdown I had to deal with last night. They would make absolutely no accommodations for THEIR miscommunication - nothing! And to add insult to injury the "artist" told my daughter she would not work on her hair because her mother was being "too aggressive" and she was "uncomfortable". My daughter left the salon in tears.
So take note - unless you are someone who doesn't care what the price is or, if you are quoted one price and then charged another book away!! Otherwise steer clear of this salon who for some reason feel they can charge like they are...
