BEWARE OF FOOD POISONING!!! I am beyond speechless at the experience I had here. We recently moved to a new building on this street and decided to check out Sweetgreen. We ordered 3 salads, 2 for lunch and one for my fiancé to take to work with him. Immediately after eating our salads we both had headaches. My headache turned into a migraine, and I was vomiting the entire day. My fiancé got really sick at work, and we agreed it must have been the salads we ate from Sweetgreen as we hadn't eaten anything else that day and were perfectly fine before. He said he was going to throw his other salad away, and I told him not to and that we should take it back to the store. My fiancé was sick the rest of the next day as well. This was on a Monday.
Tuesday, the next day, we tried to call the store to explain what happened and you cannot contact them via phone. So we took the remaining salad along with the receipt back to the store and asked for the manager. Apparently, there is not always a manager on site, so Marquiza took the salad and the receipt and said the manager, Brendan, would contact us the next day.
Wednesday, no one contacted us regarding this establishment giving us food poisoning. We were offered a gift card. Umm, no thanks, I don't want to eat your bacteria-riddled salads ever again!
Thursday, we went back to the location and there was no manager or no Brendan there. We were basically told we needed to go online to figure this out for ourselves because Brendan, the manager, had left for the day and we shouldn't expect him to contact us anyway. We were offered free food again, ummmmmmmm NOOOOOO Thanks! I don't want to die from sub par bacteria infested salads. It's not worth it!
Friday, we went back to the location to try to see if Brendan was there and he was not. At this point, I was livid. How can a restaurant cause you to be ill, and not care whatsoever. So there is never a manager on site. I explained to the person that I was speaking to what happened, she said she'd heard of the situation and thought Brendan had contacted us. She contacted Brendan, and Brendan told her that the situation was being investigated and that we were notified of that. So the phantom manager blatantly lied after all this! Why would I keep coming into the store to see a manager if we were notified of anything! Again, we were offered more of this poisonous food. NO THANK YOU! Especially, as I saw how they clean the kale while I sat in here for 30 minutes trying to get answers. It was pretty disgusting, and I see how someone could get food poisoning. They literally fill the sink with water, put the dirty kale in than then sling the kale with it's dirty water into the side of the sink with the clean kale, so it is essentially not rinsed at all. How disgusting?! It's pretty clear that SweetGreen doesn't take this matter seriously, and that I now have to contact the Department of Public Health as well as other avenues to get this resolved.
Avoid this place at all costs and if you slightly value...
Read moreVery. Mf. Healthy. I saw this place when I was in DTLA with my cousins. It's right next to Paris Baguette.
I ordered the modified Shroomani Bowl that's comprised of basil, shredded kale, wild rice, miso sesame ginger dressing, cucumbers, raw beets, roasted sweet potatos, roasted sesame tofu, spicy broccoli, warm portobello mushrooms, spicy sunflower seeds & tortilla chips. Yes, that's a lot in one bowl.
I regret the kale being the MAIN veggie of choice. I really should have opted for spinach, a green veggie I actually really enjoy. The red beets aren't for me. I didn't mind giving them a try, but it was gross. I saved the chips for another day, might eat them with some guacamole. Wish there was more rice for the tofu, those were prettyyy good. And the sweet potatoes, mushrooms, and broccoli weren't bad.
The Miso Sesame Ginger Dressing tasted different, peculiar in the initial lick, haha, but when dipped by the Rosemary Focaccia--OMG!!! EXTREMELY GOOD! The 3 stars come from the carbs, the delicious carbs in bread form. Good thing I ordered two slices. Very good and filling.
Overall, this bowl is very clean, green, and healthy, but not for me. Good experience tho and not mad at all the fresh veggies that were on my palette today, but I much more preferred the bread and the dressing. My honest favorite part...
Read moreLess food, more sweet potatoes. This seems to be healthy food restaurant, is located off 8th street, in a very historical area. The parking is certainly not cheap and hard to find, so you have to walk around the block for sure. I looked at the Manu on the wall, and it sounds OK, so I ordered a Hot honey chicken plate. I noticed that there were a few small warmers to hold those cooked chicken and potatoes. When it comes to quinoa, it was a table spoon size. The red cabbage and almond, were chopped into small pieces. It was served in about two table spoon size. The chicken came in small portion too: maybe under 8 small pieces. There were also very few tables for customers to sit. Plus, the chairs were all made of very hard wood. I was not able to sit on it and finish my food, since it really hurts by sitting on it. Talking about the sweet potatoes, they came in with 9 medium pieces and with potato skin on, so it was hard for me to eat. Plus, since it was coming out of the warmer, so it was not tasty and fresh. As a summary, I was very disappointed about the quality and size of the chicken plate. I did pay 17 dollars for it, but I was still hungry when I walked out of this...
