A Masterclass in Culinary Disappointment
I came in expecting an experience worthy of an anniversary weekend, something memorable, something at least marginally competent given the 4.6-star rating. What I got was the dining equivalent of a shrug—apathetic, sluggish, and utterly indifferent to the very concept of hospitality.
Let’s start with service. Or, rather, the complete and total absence of it. Fifteen minutes before a server even looked in our direction. I’ve had more engaging conversations with houseplants. We debated going for the bottomless drink option, thinking maybe that would at least make the wait tolerable. Thankfully, we didn’t. Our first round took 20 minutes to arrive, and it was also our last. No refills. No check-ins. Just silence. The water situation? One single begrudging top-off, delivered post-check like some sort of closing argument, all while we sat in a makeshift back-lot dining area overlooking an alley and a row of apartment windows.
The food—ah, the food. A tragic collection of missed opportunities and culinary sins. The hot/cold bar was a sad, barren wasteland, as if it had been looted by a horde of ravenous locusts. The stroganoff disappeared into the abyss, never to return, while the Alfredo sauce somehow managed to taste like microwaved powdered creamer. The kitchen’s idea of an appetizer? A plate so measly it felt like a cruel joke: half a fried banana cut in half (because, you know, a whole one each would be too generous), four cheese puffs, and a single dollop of mashed potatoes that looked like it had given up on life.
Then came the meat—or, more accurately, the tri-tip parade. The restaurant’s website promised 18 cuts of meat, a Brazilian steakhouse dream. What actually arrived was a dismal rotation of six, parceled out in portions so laughably small they could’ve been garnishes. The ribeye had one cameo, tragically short-lived as it tumbled to the floor, where it remained, a poignant metaphor for the entire evening. My wife, in an act of reluctant charity, was given another slice as if she were a Dickensian orphan. The "lamb" was so aggressively gamey it felt like an endurance test. And then there was the picanha—one single slice, just enough to remind me of what I could’ve been eating elsewhere.
The atmosphere? It was fine, if watching other tables actually receive food is your idea of entertainment. We had an excellent view of an apartment window across the street, where a man ate his dinner in blissful ignorance of our suffering. The staff bustled around, apparently engaged in a different restaurant experience than the one we were having.
By the end, I found myself fantasizing about the golden, unpretentious salvation of a McDouble. At least McDonald's knows what it is. At least it’s seasoned. At least it won’t leave you staring at a forgotten slice of ribeye on the floor, questioning all of your life choices.
Final verdict? Stiff drinks, stiff regrets, and a lingering sense of culinary betrayal. Would not recommend—even to my...
Read moreWe recently hosted a party of 35 here for my Mom's 70th birthday party and from the very beginning to the end it was hands down, 12/10 amazing.
We have been here a few times - on our own (we inquired to have our wedding reception here pre-pandemic! but then the pandemic happened!). We also came here with a large party as well. Surprisingly, this is my first time writing a review.
Overall - everything worked out well for us! From the moment we inquired about my Mom's 70th birthday party, to working with Jessica - the events coordinator, everything went smoothly. Ever since our first phone call before booking, I knew through her first interaction that I already wanted to book with H&H. Having dined there prior helped as well; we knew their food was solid.
We ended up booking the Fireplace Room that had a max capacity of 50. Throughout the two months of planning with her and up until the day before our event, Jessica was very professional, empathetic, accommodating, and understanding - all wonderful traits that a great planner/coordinator embodies. Yes, I had the best chats with her including talking about seating arrangements, and while we were doing so, she was moving tables around to see if some of my requests would work, and it did! We were able to fit our entire party, a photobooth and more in there, and it was really great.
When the day of our event arrived, we were greeted by John - so kind, and he loved our kids! He helped execute the vision and layout we planned. Our server was Sabrina - and she was so kind while taking our orders for drinks, serving our desserts, helping us out with whatever we needed and more.
The food, hands down, was 10/10 delicious. We had a set menu for our party and it was the best because it comes with 18 churrasco brazillian meats. I loved the pichana, beef ribs, H&H steak, the cheese bread, plantains, chicken hearts, grilled pineapple, and the salad bar. The salad bar was full of variety - even a chocolate fountain! Everyone was FULL and LOVED THE FOOD! This was also some families’ first time having a Brazilian steakhouse, so it was nice they got to experience that. It's AYCE! And it's been solid every single time - even in 2019/2020 when we first dined here.
Everything for my Mom's party went so smoothly from the very first interaction up until the last moments when it ended. We felt so welcome at H&H. All the staff were friendly, and we really felt like we were a part of their family at the end of the day. I can't stop thinking about how well our surprise party went for my Mom, so I want to give a huge shout-out and thank you to H&H for executing our party and more. With so much love, full stomachs, and lots of gratitude, THANK YOU! We will...
Read moreI wanted to handle things in private but have not been responded to in 3 days so here I am posting a public review.
I took my husband here for his birthday (Jan 1) since he loved it last year, but this time was totally different. The service was HORRIBLE. I made a reservation signifying it was for a birthday. We arrived and had to still wait for our table to be ready. Once seated it took FOREVER for our waitress (pronounced "Why-Why") to come take our order. She never returned for the drink order by the way. Someone else delivered water to the table. If we are paying for service (meats delivered to the table) then I would expect just that. However, we were there for nearly 3 hours with the majority of our time waiting for meats which other people in our area received and for bread which other people got who arrived after us AFTER we had asked for it multiple times. Someone came to ask us if everything was okay. I said no and he said he would get us drinks on the house. We had to wait 25 minutes for them to bring them... (1 alcoholic and 1 coke). Only ONE of the two arrived at the 25 min mark so we had to ask for the coke AGAIN. All of the other folks in our area who came after us had left and we were getting annoyed so we asked for the check. I asked also for our complimentary birthday dessert. It never came. I asked some one else twice they said it would be 5 minutes both times. I waited nearly 25 minutes, and my husband went to get our car and the dessert never came. The fastest thing that came to our table was the check. There was no discount applied because of the poor service. Luckily for me I had a coupon I had gotten in my email from our previous visit. I am highly disappointed and appalled that NO ONE from their establishment has even contacted me to rectify the issue nor really cared when we were in the restaurant. I highly doubt we would celebrate anything else here ever again.
edit: I want to also add that despite the poor service, I still tipped because I didn't want to add to any stereotypes that may have been used against us in not receiving proper service. It wasn't 20% but it was way more than what the...
