Terrible, foo, terrible customer service. These people yelled at me and told me that next time I come to the restaurant. I better order. What's on the menu inside the restaurant? I ordered something that was on the online menu apparently, the menu online and the menu inside is different. They even gave me a salad.I ordered with a bunch of cheese on it After discussing my dietary issues. They were nasty, they were mean they wouldn't compromise? They wanted to remake it, but after tasting their falafel, it was disgusting, I wanted a refund. They fought me on it so bad, it was really unprofessional that Mexican girl on the front does not know customer service. Eventually they called their manager and said that I would get a refund, but who knows? They were very hesitant to even give me anything that said. I was going to have a refund like a receipt. I told them I use the same system they do when there's definitely an option for a refund on there and a receipt but they said that the manager refunded over the phone manually so we will see. I can't believe that they told me the order was wrong. And it's my fault. I can't believe they told me. I better order in the menu inside the restaurant and not online. I can't believe they're blaming me for having 2 different menus. I can't believe the girl pointed to a salad. That wasn't even the salad I wanted and said that was it. And the cook confirmed that wasn't it because I wanted extra lettuce. Instead of rice, he told me that it doesn't come with rice and it's just salad and falafel I even named every single ingredient that was supposed to be in the salad. None of it being feta cheese. Never will I go back here these people drink atleast the cook realized the type a person I was and was able to get me a refund, so I think we will see. Ask for the Mexican girl in the front. Never talk to a customer that way and never raise your voice. And i'm mexican too, so i'm not races, or anything, but this is mediterranean food and you have mexicans in the kitchen this is not authentic, it's just some people who see no opportunity and...
Read moreI hope this message finds readers well. I recently visited the location on Hill St. in Los Angeles and had an experience that I’d like to share, not as a complaint but rather as a way to help improve understanding and ensure an even better experience for myself and other customers in the future. Speaking spanish to order is a plus!
I placed a custom order for a falafel bowl with salmon as my choice of protein (Order #065). I confirmed this multiple times with the gentleman taking my order, who was incredibly kind, but there was a slight language barrier. Unfortunately, despite my efforts to ensure everything was clear, I received a salmon bowl instead of the falafel bowl I had requested. While the salmon bowl was absolutely delicious (your flavors are incredible!), it contained ingredients I would have asked to omit due to personal allergies and preferences.
When I noticed there was no falafel in my order, the cashier explained that I had ordered the salmon bowl. I reiterated that I had requested a falafel bowl with salmon as the protein, which is why I believed it was marked as a custom order. I ended up having to order falafel separately, which, while delicious, did leave both the cashier and myself feeling a bit frustrated due to the misunderstanding. We were basically over each other, but I still tipped and he still prepared the meal.
I want to stress that this isn’t about placing blame, as the staff was polite and did their best under the circumstances. However, I’d love some clarification: is it possible to order the falafel bowl with salmon as a protein, or are the options limited to meat and chicken? Knowing this in advance would help me avoid any confusion in the future and allow me to enjoy your food even more during my next visit to Los Angeles.
I’m sharing this feedback because I genuinely enjoyed the flavors and would love to continue supporting your restaurant, but would also appreciate a smoother ordering...
Read moreMy new favorite Mediterranean spot in LA! I honestly loved everything I tried here! First off, the falafel is phenomenal! Made in-house and fried fresh, these little balls of goodness are perfectly crispy on the outside. I usually don’t get falafel when I go to Mediterranean places, but Z Falafel will make anyone a falafel lover! Their chicken kabab is also delicious. The meat is tender, juicy, and so flavorful! If you like your meats with a little added crispiness, I’d go for the chicken or beef shawarma. They’re cooked on a vertical broiler and then cut straight from the broiler and on to your plate. Can’t go wrong with their tasty beef and lamb gyro as well! I highly recommend getting a combo plate so that you can try a variety of items! When you eat in, presentation of their plates is gorgeous!
Their hummus is solid. I really enjoyed dipping my falafel into it! I usually don’t like grape leaves, but theirs are stuffed with rice, tomato, onions, parsley, and fresh lemon juice…so good! The best grape leaves I’ve had! All of their plates come with a salad, and while it may look ordinary, the dressing is so yummy! It really adds to the dish rather than other places, which just throw in some lettuce for filler.
Aside from their plates, they also offer sandwiches, bowls, salads, and sides. They do catering as well!
Z Falafel as two locations. 8th Street is their original location, and this is their second location on Hill Street. The Hill Street location does not have any indoor seating, but they have a couple tables out front and a small covered patio in the back. They have a few parking spots available for customers, so it makes coming here...
