Tocaya Modern Mexican — Restaurant in Los Angeles

I used to love this place - gf fried fish tacos and a bunch of other no gluten options, all labeled, was a huge plus. I would even pay a delivery fee since they aren't included in the Uber Eats pass - that's how worth it I thought it was, despite being super pricey for Mexican. However, lately, they have been hugely disappointing. They barely give any cheese on almost all of their items - sometimes they seem to forget it at all - and you can't put in any order notes or request extra. This is a GF quesadilla I got without any other fillings just to test it out to see if they would give a normal amount if nothing else was in it. Seriously, a joke, and $15! I also have noticed a lot of it arrives cold now and is always dry. Really sad. Probably won't be wasting my money here again.

Update: tried one last time and the food was so disgusting. The GF fish tacos were good and relatively fresh, but the ceviche and everything else I got seemed like it had gone bad. I’ve been here multiple times but to deliver this delicious smelling food.

I finally decided to give it a taste and I was not disappointed.

Let’s starts off with the initial impression of the establish and it looks clean and modern and I like the whole vibe with the music playing in the background and it makes me feel like one of the cool kids.

Next I want to praise the service that was provided and I want to compliment Alex (manager) and Michelle (cashier) for their exceptional commitment to providing great service. They gave me a great impression of Tocaya Orgánica as a whole and will definitely recommend them on this merit.

This is a fast food establishment and their goal is to provide healthy alternatives to those busy bodies that are always eating on the go and I really want to say I enjoyed the food. The one thing I would’ve liked is spicier options for the sauces.

I have been here three times now and I think they make an excellent burrito and the restaurant itself is beautiful. The service, however, is not good at all. They take a surprisingly long time to prepare the food. I waited 30 minutes both times I ordered (two burritos) at the restaurant and 45 minutes when I placed a pickup order online to avoid the wait time. The third time I was there I waited at least 30 minutes for the food when there were hardly any people in line or sitting in the restaurant. When we finally received our takeout bag, they forgot half of our order. When we returned and told the guy at the register, he was rude and unapologetic saying he “thought we got one”. We also ordered chips and salsa and for the extremely high price we expected something pretty good. They ended up giving us a half full container of salsa and a tiny box of about 10 flavourless tortilla chips.
