It was had the look of bar type of bar seatings establishment, clean, basic menu, handrolls sushi, So I assumed it would be quick clean and fresh. Well, it was unclean otherwise as they hired a too talkative friendly" sushi person (not Japanese or Asian) who seem to know nothing about food safety. I had a lunch break short ans told them beforehand. In other sushi places I've been to, the ones handling foods NEVER handled the money payment side or touch non-foods things like iPad, etc. whilst making your food. I told them many times and they said it's quick.. the girl should've focused on that right away & make it, but she goes to chat & socialize with others men who had all the time in the world 🙄 .. and doing nothing. Maybe you can talk AND make rolls but spit can fall into the foods so I rather you keep quiet and focus on doing your job. She should be greeter then but making rolls is not it, definitely need go get a different sushi person who cares about diner's health and safety. Also I've never seen a sushi chef talk at all or so much whilst working either until yesterday. Whilst waiting I see she's touching the ipad and other dirty dishes, other stuffs and then go handled the rice, and fish, foods without changing gloves. Definitely not clean. She's all over the place. Gross 🤮 🤢 😷 Sorry. Walk out from this. Not eating here ever! Don't recommend this place. They'd fail health inspection for her negligence alone. A star for ambiance and had good potential but this is a miss as it's dangerous she can make...
Read more(also posted on their Yelp page) Yunomi can be compared to Kazu Nori because they make hand rolls.
Food is good. Service is ok. Parking sucks. Ambiance is great.
Yunomi has a small-ish space in side because the seats are along the bar around the kitchen where they make drinks and hand rolls. They have two bathrooms in the back, but the hand washing station is outside the bathrooms. My party of three had to wait about 10-15 minutes even on a week day night.
I personally had five hand rolls and still wasn't completely full. The guy who greeted us when we got seated knew it was our first time there, but he said nothing except the menu is obtained by scanning the QR code on the table. It was good thing I checked out the menu from photos posted online because he came back really quickly to take our orders.
I think the hand roll sets are a cool way to try different fish, but the blue crab and negi toro and unagi are probably the better ones to try. They're more expensive - the negi toro is $11 lol.
There's free parking in the streets, but it took me 30 minutes to finally find a spot and I still had to walk 7 minutes to the restaurant. At least you can get Salt & Straw for dessert...
Read moreI visited Yunomi Handroll on a Sunday around lunchtime, and while some elements of the meal were enjoyable, the overall experience left a lot to be desired.
To start with the positives: the Unagi was flavorful and well-prepared—tender, with just the right amount of sweetness and char. The fried shrimp appetizer was another highlight: crispy, hot, and perfectly seasoned. Service at the counter was fast and efficient once we were seated, and the food came out quickly.
Unfortunately, getting to that point was a whole ordeal. Parking was a nightmare, and once we arrived, there was a wait to be seated despite I got waitlisted 45 minutes ago. Once seated, we found the seating to be very uncomfortable—tight spacing, stiff stools, and a general lack of comfort that made it hard to settle in and enjoy the meal. For a place where you’re meant to sit and eat rolls fresh as they come out, the setup felt rushed and cramped.
Bottom line: Yunomi has some tasty menu items, particularly the Unagi and fried shrimp, and the kitchen moves fast—but the logistics and environment make it hard to recommend, especially on a busy weekend. If you go, consider visiting at an off-hour and prepare to...
