This restaurant location just opened this past Tuesday and has been the big story in local Facebook groups. I "finally" tried Raising Cane's today (on their fifth day of business) . I ordered their Sandwich Combo which comes with three tenders, Cane's sauce, and lettuce on a toasted bun, crinkle fries, and a regular sized drink.
I took a bite from a tender first to see what I thought of it. (This is why there's a bite missing in my picture.). Their chicken tenders have a nice, crunchy breading and the chicken itself was juicy. It was good, but it's really nothing to go insane over.
The sandwich was good, but I couldn't really taste the Cane's sauce as it was on the bottom bun between it and the lettuce, so it blended in with everything. Some of the sauce did drip off my sandwich as I ate it, so I did try to taste it by itself, but again, it didn't hit me as being being anything special. Maybe the Cane's sauce itself is more what people go crazy over, though? I've seen videos where people have large cups of Cane's sauce to dip their tenders & fries and they act like it's the best thing on Earth.
It all worked out for me to try their food today. I got my hair cut next door and afterwards I was standing on their sidewalk debating whether to try Raising Cane's. They had police assisting with control ofl the traffic flow and people who tried to bypass the Drive Thru line by going through the parking lot of the next door stores were made to turn around. Someone who got turned around stopped beside someone else who was trying to do the same thing and I heard them say that there was only a 5 minute wait inside. That helped make up my mind, and I immediately walked over to the restaurant. When I went in, there were only three people in front of me in line. They had two cashiers to take orders and I guess two of the three people in front of me were a couple, so they placed their order with the one cashier. Then, I heard a woman behind me ask which line I was in. I replied "I didn't realize there was more than one line..." and she replied that there's two. At that point, the one cashier became available, so the woman in front of me went to them, and then the other cashier also became available, so I went to them and ignored the woman behind me. I'm PRETTY SURE there's only supposed to be ONE LINE since it wraps around the small seating area and then when you move up to being first in line, you simply go to the first available cashier.
Speaking of the line, I must have arrived at the perfect time (a few minutes before noon) because after I placed my order and got my drink, I realized the line had exploded to at least 20 people!
One strange thing I experienced was that it took a while to receive my order. Maybe it was because I ordered two sandwich combos? Other people who ordered after me were receiving their orders, but everyone was just ordering chicken tenders & fries. Maybe they don't sell many sandwiches and they had to try to find the rolls in among all the packages or Texas Toast that they had in their kitchen?
My final verdict is that Raising Cane's is good. Their tenders are juicy with crispy breading, but they only come in one flavor. The sandwich came on a good toasted roll with three tenders that I had a hard time keeping between the buns to eat them. Their fries are mid. Their iced tea is good, although I mixed 4/5 unsweet tea with 1/5 sweet tea.
We'll be back, but Raising Cane's did not blow me away as many online videos tend to show how others react...
Read moreI waited for the hype of this place to die down, was running errands, and saw an opportunity (3 cars in the drive thru) to finally try it despite the reviews I have seen.
I ordered the box combo with no drink and extra sauce since that is what I hear so much about. I get home with my order and open it up and am missing the extra sauce despite it being on the ticket. Disappointing for my very first time trying this.
Anyway, it did not matter whether I had the extra sauce or not. Upon trying the chicken with my open, spilled-everywhere container of sauce, I realized that I would never eat this chicken again. Fellow patrons, I warn you to not even bother trying this restaurant. We have a Popeye's, Chick-fil-A, and heck, even KFC is better if you are looking for fast food options. Those restaurants do it better. Popeye's and Chick-fil-A still have long lines at times for a reason.
The chicken is just as the other reviewers mentioned - bland, soggy, flavorless (Costco sells frozen tenders better than these, and they need to be reheated). The sauce that I've seen so many rave about online was nothing to write home about for me. It is weak, watered down, slightly sweet, and has a faint taste of mayonnaise. There is an aftertaste in this meal, but I cannot identify where it is coming from. Might be the oil the chicken was fried in. Bread is good. Coleslaw is simple. Fries are fine (but I can make better at home).
This place was crowded for months and months. I waited for a good moment to try it and for the kinks to be ironed out. I got my moment, but looking back, I think the hype died a while ago as I have not seen it as crowded since. This should tell the company something...they either picked the wrong area, or they need to adjust methodology and recipe delivery. If they keep serving this...this meal I got that is forgettable, not good, not something the people crave...they are not going to last more than a couple of years.
I am disappointed because I was hoping for a strong chicken competitor in the area. I was hoping for a delicious sauce. I wish them well and hope they can adjust (maybe offer spicy chicken, flavor your tenders, add more body to your sauce). Until then, I am glad I tried it, but...
Read moreWhat a disappointment. When arriving, the first impression is that the place had no parking. Literally, less than a dozen spots. We parked next door. Then going into the restaurant, was very overcrowded. No where to sit because the few tables and bar top seating were full and the line had to wrap through the dining area. There is not much space between counter and tables. There is no sound dampening material in dining area. Everything is hard surface so everyone in the place was talking over each other. The poor girl behind the counter, who was very sweet young lady, was having to basically yell at patrons to get their orders. We also had to yell back for her to hear us. There were only 4 meals. Each one very expensive for chicken meals. More expensive then KFC or chicken Fila. I asked for ranch dip. Nope, they dont have it. Asked what they did have, raising canes sauce. So I said how about honey mustard. She had to get from the back. Tgat is when I noticed staff handling a lot of stuff and working with food. Definitely not within health code. Get these kids gloves and explain the importance of avoiding cross contamination. Then with all of that, I didn't notice they gave us no salt and pepper or ketchup in our to-go bag and didn't ask if we needed anything of the sort. FYI, Raising canes sauce is not even appealing. The food we got came up quick. But we were saddened when we left and started to eat our food, only to find that the chicken was chewy, and soggy. Then the fries were also not done. The tiny cup of coleslaw slaw was literally 3 bites. And the only thing that was even descent was the peice of bread. My 11 year old ate her chicken but was sickly the next day. I will never go back to a raising canes. Your business model will have you bankrupt soon if you dont expedite some changes. As soon as you give someone Salmanilla from undercooked unsafe food you will be dealing with a lot more than...
