We went to Millie’s on Main while on a girls trip to the Island for a week. I was a little hesitant as the menu isn’t huge and I like a little more variety. We decided to try it because it was close to our hotel and has options the three of us would all eat. We got in and waited slightly longer than we expected in not huge one room place . Finally someone came and sat us. I’m happy to say that it was all uphill from there . The inside is cute and charming , nothing super fancy but cozy. There was a short wait so we opted to sit at the bar and get some drinks. The bartender, Traci was fast and the drinks were fantastic . We all were pleasantly surprised as this seemed more of a place for beer rather than some very well made cocktails. Our server was Brooke T. Was amazing ! She has such a great personality and was a fun and attentive server who gave us great recommendations and was just great from start to finish. My friend got the unplanked whitefish which was so good and not fishy like another whitefish we had at another restaurant on the island . I got the chicken which was very good. Another friend got the Neptune’s pasta which was also very tasty. They didn’t have scallops due to the close of the season but they still charge the same Price which I feel should not be the case. On Brooke’s recommendation we tried the pumpkin spice latte cake and we also wanted to try the apple crisp. Both were fantastic ! Everyone loved my espresso martini (even the non martini fan.) The not your average margarita was a nice surprise too and we all loved it (yep even the non margarita fan). Once it got dark out the ambience was really nice and it was nicely decorated for Halloween. Definitely underrated and so glad we ended up...
Read moreRecently ended our visit to the island with a meal at Millie's, with my service dog in tow. The host and server were accommodating and pleasant, and we enjoyed most of our meal in peace. During our visit, my dog laid at my feet, out of the way from other customers and staff, and I periodically provided her with training treats (little crackers). As we finished our meal and I held one final treat for my dog, another server named Dawn made a beeline to our table, glared at me with the most hateful, wide-eyed expression I've ever seen, and loudly demanded "DO NOT FEED THAT DOG AGAIN!" I was taken aback, and said, "I'm sorry, what?" She repeated herself, raising her voice, and told us it's against the law. The customers next to us were also visibly taken aback.
Per ADA guidelines, it is NOT against the law for me to provide my service animal with treats to reward/reinforce her training. It isn't even against the law for them to eat at the table, though not encouraged, and I couldn't imagine doing that. It is up to the restaurant's discretion as to whether or not service animals are permitted to be fed at the table. Training treats are not a meal, and my dog was not disrupting anyone, until DAWN decided to make it about her and ruin our day.
We will absolutely be back to the island, but we will not be back to Millie's. What a shame an establishment literally named after a dog would employ someone who isn't well versed in ADA guidelines before opening her mouth to lose two...
Read moreWhile I gave this place an overall 5 star on service and food, I had to give it a one star overall because of the bartender who seems to think she runs the place. Went in on a Friday night, asked our server if the TV near the bar could be turned on, to which he responded yes. I asked if they could turn the Lions game on. He again said yes. Shortly thereafter, he came back to the table and said the bartender would not turn the TV on. We asked why and he stated that she didn't like customers coming in late and hanging out watching TV after they closed. Mind you, it was roughly 8:20, so 40 minutes until they closed. I was so shocked at this lack of professionalism, that I didn't know what to say. Our server even said that it was crazy. He did talk to her again and he came back to our table saying she said "she'd work on getting it on". After watching her for about 5 minutes, with no attempts to even turn the TV on, we noticed our server was attempting to turn it on. He did finally manage to find the game and came to our table to tell us the bartender told him she wouldn't turn it on, so if we wanted it on, he'd have to turn it on. What???!!! What a way to lose business. I've never walked into a bar and been told "no, I won't turn a game on". I wonder if the owners/ managers know this is happening. So, don't go here for food if ya want to watch a game. Anthony was great, food was great.. bartender, eh,...
