Receipt to prove it’s not a lie & I am from Illinois. I have no reason to try and ruin a local business in Georgia. I am informing the public especially people with sensitivities. This is what reviews are for. Sorry it is not what you want to hear. I called the store and left my number after your rude and unprofessional response here.

My husband and I stopped in here yesterday for the first time. We were in town and I was looking for a place with good coffee and gluten free desserts. We found this place within walking distance from where we were staying. Upon walking in, the place itself is very cute and decorated very nicely. The place was dead minus one other customer sitting on their laptop. Two employees were working at the time. The two girls saw us come inside but took at least 5 minutes or more to even approach us. It was a little ridiculous. I asked if they knew if their gluten free chocolate torte was made with any kind of oats since I not only am Celiac but also allergic to oats. They went in the back and looked for a while and came out and said they couldn’t figure it out by looking at the box so they would call the owner to find out. Now right there I should have left because it should have been obvious to me that this so called bakery uses premade boxed items. But of course I didn’t even think of that at the time since I was so excited to maybe be eating a gluten free dessert. It is rare to find places that offer them. While the one called the owner I asked the other girl about their coffee syrups and if they were also gluten free. She did not know if any of them were so I asked to see the bottle. On the bottle it did say gluten free, if that was what was in fact inside the bottle. I ordered a large (which mind you is so so small) iced coffee with the toffee nut syrup and cream. My husband ordered a chocolate shake as well. They said the owner told them it did not contain any oats or anything other than eggs and chocolate and sugar. The coffee itself was Absolutely disgusting. It tasted burned and super strong and more like a cold brew than an iced coffee. I could not taste hardly any of the toffee nut and the creamer was almost non-existent. My husband’s shake was as thin as water. They put whipped cream on top after he told them twice to not put any on the top. When he went to scrape it off the top a quarter of this watered down ice cream shake spilled all over the table. It was supposed to be chocolate but it was white with a splash of chocolate syrup on the side. Basically they gave him a cup of milk. Our total for these 3 items were over $24. The coffee was $7 and the shake was $5.50. So the store bought gf torte had to be at least $8-10 for the slice.

After all that we still consumed what we purchased because we were not going to waste our money. After about 45 minutes after eating there, I started to feel extremely sick to my stomach, broke out in a celiac rash and become violently ill throwing up and everything. It is a full 24 hours later and I have not recovered from it. Somehow I was glutened or given something I specifically said I could not have. We are super careful where we go to eat and this kind of thing does not happen. I am beyond upset because now it will take me at least a week for my stomach to recover from this.

If you intend to carry gluten free items in your restaurant or bakery, you should not only take every single precaution necessary to make sure that the items are not cross contaminated with other items. Also you should educate your employees on these items and on what can happen if something is not done correctly. I Would Not recommend this place to anyone who is gluten sensitive, Celiac, or has food allergies. I also would Not recommend This place to anyone based on the terrible taste of their coffee, their aloof employees, their lack of the ability to clean the bathroom when the store is clearly dead.

Save yourself the money and go to a chain coffee shop/bakery because you will get the same factory made desserts and not from scratch items and better...

I can't exactly make a judgment on the food or the service or the atmosphere because I basically walked in the store I ordered a small pastry not even an inch tall got to the register and it was 12.95 for a pastry that was about an inch tall. The best shops in Atlanta for unique pastries charge $7.50 to $10 each for bigger pastries. I am not saying that they're not great that they probably taste fantastic but the charge that much for that small of a pastry I mean it's not because I'm cheap because when I go to one of those shops I buy you know like 5 to 10 to do a tick tock on it or for review so it's not like I'm doing cheapness it's just because I think it's ridiculous to charge that much for a small small pastry. And then to have the charge of $12.95 and then have the girl to turn the screen around for me to give a tip for them to put that small pastry into a little box to give to me which was like seconds that's ridiculous. And because it's in the middle of downtown Macon on the square they charge for parking. So I pay for parking get out of my car go into the shop walk out of the shop and get back in my car and lose my money from the parking so if you're willing to pay that much and if they're that good then more power to you. So I am reviewing the shop as a 3 because I really didn't stay in there long enough and I didn't buy anything so I didn't taste anything so I can't give a you know a review that it was bad and I can't give a review that it was good because I didn't like...

Sweet Eleanor’s is more than a place to stop for a delicious sip or sweet to perk up the afternoon, it’s a stunning new Macon must that is an incredible little vacation in every visit.

First off: the options are outstanding. Plenty of shops claim “something for everyone” but this one absolutely delivers. The menu is extensive. From tiramisu to take home to a picky eater to non-dairy options for our family coffee drinker, rarely is everyone happy but here it was easy for everyone’s dream to come true.

When owner, Scott Mitchell, sets out to make magic, he always exceeds expectations. He took time to greet us and was working behind the counter to add a personal touch to the experience - Sweet Eleanor is an homage to Mitchell’s own grandmama whose portrait graces the wall and whose tastes influence every corner from the dusky rose color scheme to the plush furnishings. It infuses the feeling of every grandparent’s fancy formal living room into a modern chic experience you just want to spend the middle of your day savoring.

His ingenuity and talent really make the difference in this little corner of paradise and he even took a photo with us!

We can’t wait to come back and spend more time in a place as special as...

11-3-2024 4:15pm. I have to agree with most of the reviews about the taste and price. I ordered a macchiato with butter pecan syrup. The coffee almost tasted burnt at first and there was not much butter pecan flavor if any. And $1.50 for almond milk is highway robbery! The sweet cashier agreed. I like to support small businesses but not if I’m going to get bent over! I gave two stars because the cashier was sweet and the atmosphere is nice. But the other female employee working, that you can see in one of the photos was not friendly and the prices are ridiculous for milk alternatives. I was going to get a sweet, but since my coffee was almost 9 dollars I knew the reviews were going to be correct for the sweets, so I didn’t bother. I suggest altering your prices or you’ll price yourself out of business. Do not recommend if you need dairy free.
