Tzango — Restaurant in Macon

Tl;dr: delicious, reasonable, scratch made food served with love in a humble environment.

I’m writing this review in the sleepy, happy afterglow of dinner at Tzango. This spot is family owned and operated with Carina running the FOH and Mario running the back. Everything in the kitchen is made from scratch. Mario noted most of their recipes start out vegan and he can accommodate a wide variety of dietary needs. Prices are super reasonable considering the attention to detail and quality of ingredients. We had the best carnitas either of us had ever had. Carina also mixed us up some delicious cocktails. I walked in, wasn't sure if I was suppose to seat myself or wait to be seated. Someone walked out from back finally as I was seating my self and stood behind the register. So, if you go, you order at the bar first. The whole experience was just a little confusing. It wasn't really clear, but this is more a fast food sort of place than a typical Mexican restaurant. Once I got my food, it was good. I had a burrito with carnitas. Pretty good flavors. It's like a Moe's burrito but you don't get to see the stuff you are picking to put in it. The food & service are fantastic. Get the corn tortillas for your tacos - I’m 99% sure they’re made from scratch. You can expect double corn tortillas for your taco so they won’t rip and spill all over your plate. Super easy to eat without a mess, and I’m a messy eater. Fresh jalapeños aren’t listed in the taco topping options, but I asked if it was an option and they put it on the side for me. I got up to grab hot sauce and the owner walked into the kitchen and back out to my table with homemade spicy sauce and a spicier sauce. She let me have both and they were both delicious.
