Service was terrible, beer was aggressively mediocre, food was OK.
We went on a particularly busy Monday afternoon in October, to which I understand they were probably a little overwhelmed. We were seated pretty quickly but waited about 15 minutes before someone came for drink order. We asked if we could put in food too because we were ready to order and very hungry. Waiter said he would put drinks in and come right back. He proceeded to go to other tables and take food orders, including a table that arrived at the same time and a table that arrived after us. We eventually put in our food order and because of the crowd and small kitchen, it probably took an additional 30 minutes to get our food. At least 3 tables that arrived after us were finished eating before we received our food. At one point, my MIL asked if something was wrong, and got a very curt response from the waiter. He then went to the kitchen, got 2 of our plates and through them down in front of my wife, who wasn't even the person who made the comments. He was rude for the rest of the time we were there.
The beer was pretty 'Meh', and definitely well below the quality of most breweries in Colorado. They were out of lager, the Wit was fine, the hazy was below average and the juniper IPA was undrinkable. Main problem was lack of well roundness and too biter across the beers.
The food was 'fine'. Burger=B+ Fries=B, Wings=B+, Nachos=C-, coleslaw side served in a small sauce cup vs. a large pile of fries with our other burger order. Also, not really a brewery thing, but diet coke was rather flat and tasted a little under syruped (although at this point I might have just looking for more things to disappoint).
All-in-all you could have a worse meal, but the lame beer and terrible service made me wish we went to any random...
Read moreHorrible service. We had a few hours to kill and were hungry while walking around manitou, so we stopped here at the suggestion of some relatives. We arrived to a fairly slow lunch rush of maybe 15 people total. Found a table and sat down. My mother asked us to order her a drink while she ran to the bathroom, I am 32, and could order it for myself if I wanted. Someone came to put water on the table and I asked them to put the order in. Which was met with, “ you can tell that to your server”. She then walked away. A minute or two later another gal showed up and said she “heard we needed something”. I explained again and tried to order the drink to which her only response was, “ well, I will talk to her about that when she is back”, and she turned around and walked away. My mother got back, and she once again asked for her gin and tonic, the server let her know they didn’t have her preferred gin. When my mother asked about their selection the server told her to just look at the menu, which was a QR code that wouldn’t work for the beer menu for some reason only food, you could access drinks by scrolling up on the page from the food. Once we got it opened and found the gin selection, they only had two options, and one was a strawberry ginger flavored one. They were not busy what so ever. I have worked in service for over 15 years. Know your menu, be helpful not dismissive and rude. After the experience of trying to get a drink we got up and walked out five minutes after sitting down.
We went a few doors down to Persephone Grae’s cafe and juice bar. They had great hot sandwiches and salad and were extremely nice, helpful, and the over all atmosphere was a lot happier and...
Read moreI visited Manitou Brewing after hiking the Incline to grab some lunch. I ordered the nachos. It was a chip-heavy version of nachos that was light on the toppings. Because of this, I asked our server if there was some salsa. Our sever told us they did not have salsa, but she could bring me some pico. "Okay great" I thought. I was brought a 1.5 ounce cup of pico de gallo. It was the same 1.5 ounce cup the restaurant would pump ketchup or mayo in for their to-go orders (attached is a picture, in case you're not sure what I'm referring to). While I was bummed I had only one, maybe two, bites of pico to go with an entire platter or nachos, this was not my issue...
...my issue was when I received my bill. I was charged $3.00 for a 1.5 ounce cup of onions and tomatoes. I asked my server if this charge was a mistake, since I had received such a meager amount. She replied that it was correct, and that she was really surprised to see the charge. I told her that I think a customer should be told ahead of time if they are going to receive such a large charge for a negligible amount of pico and that it felt like price gouging. She finally said she would remove it from the bill, but acted very frustrated about having to do so.
Other than the above, I thought the food was just okay, the beer was decent, our server was pretty curt, and that the business was packed (all seats full) yet understaffed (and I think the stress of being understaffed was why our server was so curt). Also, only having 2 unisex bathrooms for that number of patrons created a running line of 5 to 6 people waiting to...
