I’ve been here multiple times and had a great experience. But this evening was much different. I was there with my future in-laws for a nice relaxing dinner before my wedding(which is the next day) I kept my needs low but just wish to have have a comfortable seating arrangements. We were given a plastic table to add on for our group. I understand that sometimes you get what is available but it was quite uncomfortable, so when a REAL table was available we attempted to request it. I spoke to the manager who’s name was Carl and he explained to me it was for apart of the restaurant considered the bar and was for cover paying customers, which was totally understandable. So I proceeded to attempt to negotiate to have my accommodation met by offering to pay for all 4 seats covers and paying the server whose section the table resides in a more than modest sum ,for the 30 minutes we would be using it...I understand the complexity of a restaurant/bar and tables equal revenue for both the establishment and the server and I was hoping to help meet those needs for minimal hassle. I was driven to clear frustration by the manager Carl who began to undermine me which force me to an irrational outburst which was unfortunate for me and uncalled for on my part. If it were any other place and, really any other time I’ve been in there, these accommodations would have been meet but it felt that Carl cared more about having dominance over me than about the experience he was trying to provide me. I will return and certainly will have more experiences that will be more than satisfactory which is what I have had in the past. I just find that sometimes some people are right for a job and others are not and Carl is by far not the right person for this job. I could not have been more flexible in my approach and he still refused to make my...
Read moreI don't usually do out of town places but this one was too good to not do.
The hotel I was staying at suggested the place.
Lay out is kind of different, have to go through the bar to get to the dining but not a big deal.
Wife ordered the lobster mac and cheese. I took a taste and OMG was it good. It was delicious. I can't over state how good it was.
Here's where things went wrong and they really handled it. I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was done in a way that made it taste like catfish, they insisted it was not catfish. I can't stand catfish. A southern boy who don't like catfish, I know weird huh.. anyways, let the waitress know I did not like catfish and she immediately got an order to replace it. I decided a burger was a safe bet. I know I was cranky from being on the road and stuff that day, so I stepped outside instead of taking it out on the staff. Not there fault lol. So I get back to the table and the manager or maybe owner, I didn't ask, checks on me and makes sure we got something coming. So burger arrives, I took one bite and WOW. Best burger I have had in a long time. I was ready to go back the next day for another burger but life made me go elsewhere. I cannot say enough about the burger. It put anything I have had in this town to shame. The burger alone put me into a better mood. Bottom line, great food and the staff were wonderful even with me being cranky to begin with. Next time we are down that way, will stop again. Would give more...
Read moreI have never had an issue with Sybergs. Honestly have always loved the food and they have the best happy hour in town. I get that it's only available at the bar and for dine in. HOWEVER, after three years of coming here, they now tell me I am not allowed to have a take out box for my food because it was "happy hour food". Honestly, that's ridiculous. You would rather THROW MY FOOD OUT then let me have a box? Are you going to tell me I'll be charged if I don't eat all of my food next? If you don't like that I am able to get your appetizers for cheap, change the price. If you won't let me take my food home, change the portion. If you don't like that I am taking advantage of your happy hour when you are the one advertising it, get rid of it. Charge me for a damn Togo box if it's that big of a deal. I will happily bring some Tupperware from home if you want to tell me what I can and cannot do with my food that I purchased. Or I just won't ever come back. Not to mention I was forced to give a credit card before getting my drinks or food, and the check was run without me seeing an itemized receipt. Overall, one of my favorite places has become a sad example of how small management changes can ruin the reputation and atmosphere of a STL staple. You won't see me for a while, including the people I used to bring here. Not blaming the waitress, blaming the...
