Save yourself & go somewhere else. Worst service ever!!! Sat patiently for a 1/2 hour with no one even acknowledging me on the outdoor patio, even though one bartender clearly saw me walk out there-I respected the fact that she was so busy in the bar that she couldn’t even nod at me, mention to someone that there was a new table - I understand-I can be patient. My friend finally arrived, and after waiting another 10 minutes, I finally went in to ask for a menu. Then the waitress didn’t want to give it to me, telling me she’d bring me a menu & I had to explain that I’d been waiting a long time & I was hungry & wanted to consider what to eat. The other 2 people arrived to our outdoor table - we notice signs that smoking is not allowed on the patio but, it really is - because no one obeys the rule & no one enforces it. So, if you’re ok with sitting outside with a constant stream of cigarette smoke in your face & going home as a non-smoker stinking of cigarettes - you’ll love it. I asked for a margarita without sour mix and was told they couldn’t do it. I asked - “Really? Can’t they just use lime & agave?” & then she said she could do it. What?!?!? But, after sitting there for 2 hours - we were able to get 3 of the 4 drinks we ordered & our guacamole appetizer (didn’t even bring enough chips for the 4 of us to eat it all because those two 2-top table inside must have been keeping her SO busy). No one seemed particularly interested in bringing us food & drinks & in fact the waitress seemed more annoyed that we were there. Too bad too because as a former waitress, I typically go out of my way to tip above & beyond (not this time though, especially because there were only 2 table inside being served & 1 other table outside (done eating) everyone else was just smoking & drinking. It’s not like the waitress was in the weeds or anything! What a sh&t show! Awful. Worst experience of all time. We left & went to get Pho & it was delicious & the waiter was absolutely lovely. Glad we were smart enough to leave! Oh, and after waiting another 20 minutes to get a check - we finally just handed the waitress some cash & left. Horrible. La Mexicana… A place where the bartender remembers your name after being told only once, in a sea of loud voices, energetic music, and thirsty patrons. Not only is the entire staff professional, friendly, and respectful, the food is cooked to near perfection, and the drinks are served with generous amounts of alcohol. No watered down, or over iced drinks here. When it comes to customer service, and that kind of “welcome home” type feeling, I challenge you to find a more inviting, friendly, and memorable bar/restaurant than La Mexicana. They are professional and friendly, even when extremely busy. Strives to satisfy customer needs / wants. Fixes problems as necessary. Inspects food and drinks before serving. Respectful, courteous, and trusting. Health and safety compliant. Some staff wears masks, but all wash hands often. Costumer safety is exceptional. I left the bar for 15-20 minutes with an exposed drink on the bar, came back to a napkin over my drink.. now that’s looking out for your customer. This place is a true diamond in the rough… a rare and spectacular sight, an example of what most people in the service industry should strive for. Worthy of exceptional praise and generous tips. This small, hole in the wall bar is an absolute wonder, with exceptional customer service, dark, somber, and yet somehow inviting and friendly atmosphere. One of the best, underrated bars in the entire MD area.

This is one of the worst places you can come to in the whole Montgomery County! Please be aware of the staff who work there, that discriminate certain groups of people, while giving premium service to other groups of people that they favor. Beware of the fact that they have a full Resturant, that always stays dirty and unkept. No menus, no services, just drunk bartenders ignoring you until they feel like serving you. Beware of the smelly bathrooms that are fly infested, and never fully operating, with toilet tissue and paper towels everywhere. Not to mention no hot water at times. Beware of the food that’s old and potentially undercooked. I got a pork chop there (for the last time) and it was raw in the middle. The meanest bartender of them all (Traci) refused to give me a refund. To make matters worse I end up getting sick from eating raw pork. Beware of the owners who allow their staff to call customers out of their names, throw money and receipts, and treat paying patrons like animals. This place USED to be the place to come, but now it’s dwindled into a hell hole where people don’t want to come anymore.
