Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Maryland

So today Aug 12, 2025 I went how I normally do to the tropical smoothie Cafe MD044 located in oxen hill. everyone is normally so kind and nice and really makes my day except for today. Normally I try to support black business however my experience today was not good. I had a little run in with a lady named Kasia and the owner of the restaurant Joe. Whom mind you first impression first time ever meeting or speaking with them left a bad traste in my mouth. I have never ever complained about anything when it comes to this location but today is the day where I do. There is this guy named D he’s super dope accommodating takes real good care of my family and I. My mom does not like a lot of sugar in her drink so we normally get accommodated at this location and various Locations with a small scoop of sugar and are able to use the chia seed scoop for her with 1 or 2 small scoops which if you think about it it’s actually saving the owner money for less sugar but still paying full price for a drink. and Joe took issue and said they don’t do that and didn’t want to accommodate me. He didn’t say anything about cross contamination I’ve had other tropical smoothies rinse off the scoop do the sugar and rinse it off again. ( he did do the sugar eventually but he said only for this time). I believe Kasia did my sandwich terribly I feel like her attitude was in the sandwich and didn’t make it right because it taste Horrible and I received old looking lettuce, guac taste old and the tomato’s taste nasty, just everything about the sandwich was wrong. No it’s not because we had a little quibble on my end but I believe on her end and I will insert some pictures. Don’t ask me why I tried to eat the sandwich cuz normally people say when the people making your food take issue with you for sticking up for someone or yourself people in the service industry tend to mess up your food on purpose or do something to it. I wasn’t paying attention but I’m 99 percent sure she did my sandwich. She also inserted herself in a convo between me and the owner since he is actually above her there was no need for her commentary. All in all horrible just horrible. It was horrible attitudes with those two, horrible sandwich, horrible service and now I will be changing Venus and taking my business elsewhere. I’m throwing the sandwich away money waisted. I came to visit tropical smoothie in oxon hill. The address is 6019 oxon hill road oxon hill, MD 20745. It seemed like a normal visit until I started processing my order. The cashier was not friendly. He also was not understanding of my order. I repeated my order to him which was a Santa Fe quesadilla with plant based protein. I repeated my order three times. It seemed like he understood. I payed for my order and sat down to wait for my order. I placed another order for a smoothie because i noticed I didn’t purchase a drink. My order was called and I took my food to the car to eat. I bit into the quesadilla and started to realize they had given me real chicken instead of plant based. I immediately started to panic as I had not eaten chicken in over two years because I had developed a severe allergy. I went back inside to let them know what happened. Saranjeet immediately started arguing with me calling the menu “instructions” and that I was wrong for ordering plant based protein. He continued to argue with me and just left mid sentence to go remake my quesadilla. I told him I wanted a refund because I was unhappy with the service and product. He denied me a refund. I asked him for copies of my receipt. He gave them to me and I left very unhappy, hungry and disappointed in the customer service. I am a loyal customer. I have a rewards account and everything. Never had I ever experienced such poor service from this company. Saranjeet, Marcus and the lady who made my quesadilla should be corrected and retrained on customer service and menu knowledge.

Also, I called to speak to the manager. She was just a rude as the employees. She let me know that it’s a proper way to report these things to her. (I thought calling her to talk to her was a proper way to resolve an issue.) She would not let me explain my situation to her. She kept cutting me off. I couldn’t get a word in during the conversation. She also hung up in my face. I tried to call back but she kept forwarding my call to voice mail. SMH.

Bad management equals bad staff!!!!!!!

The entire store needs to be evaluated and retrained on customer service, listening to understand, conflict resolution and the list goes on!!!!!!! Truly considering NEVER eating with this company again. It was that BAD. Please visit another location and don’t waste your time on this poor store. KEEP the money because you’re going to need...

I walked in there today, I was greeted soon as I walked in. And the first thing i thought was a high school. Everybody that was in there had to be 25 and under. After the using restroom .I order a smoothie and bbq shrimp quesadilla. My smoothie was made right away. I then waited a extra 10-15 minutes for my quesadilla. it was atleast 8-10 staff there it was no way that i should've waited that long for my food to be prepared and there was 8-10 staff on the clock. After waiting so long for my food a young man walked up to me and asked what was I waiting for and I told him my food. After that he walked over with my food in hand. I went back to my vehicle and I felt in my gut that my smoothie and quesadilla was not right. So I opened my quesadilla and all the (6) shrimp was in one packet of the quesadilla. And my smoothie tasted like sugar ice with color. So I took my quesadilla back in and asked if they can make it over because all the shrimp was just in one packet of the quesadilla. After the young lady took my food. Everybody gather around to see what the food looked like. Everybody in there looked at me with looks on their faces like I was the problem all because i asked for my food to be made over. So after I get my second quesadilla something told me that this one was gonna be messed up to. So I opened this one and there was 1 shrimp in each packet of the quesadilla. I went from 6 to 4 shrimp. At this point I'm already in my car and I wasnt going back in there to start no argument because i been at work til 2:15AM.
