If I could give this place more stars I definitely would. I brought two adults and six children with me mind you my children are very young. The service was amazing the waitress was on top of it just non-stop the whole time and it was busy. She didn't get irritated she didn't have an attitude cuz we get that a lot when we go out. She's very patient very understanding very thorough her name is Cynthia Z. The food I ordered onion rings chicken quesadilla the Caesar salad chips and queso dip just for appetizers for everybody those were amazing came out quickly the kids food came out quickly for our food I had the pulled pork with mac and cheese on the side and coleslaw and my mother had French dip and fries. The fries were amazing the French dip was amazing. The pulled pork was amazing and tender and moist there so many words that could describe it my mouth is watering just thinking about the food that we ate today the mac and cheese was delicious period when it first came out when my daughter ordered mac and cheese I thought it was beecher's and don't like beecher's this is homemade there it's their mac and cheese it is delicious to die for. Wish it had more than what I was giving but that's okay it was just a side. Even my children all had different meals and they all would not stop commenting about how fast their food came out about how great the service was it wasn't burnt they were trading bites with each other. I took a bite of my daughter's cheeseburger and it tasted like a real cheeseburger not Red Robin not delicious just tasting like an actual meat and it's a Patty that they make their selves with good cheese and abundance nicely toasted it was just heaven in my mouth. We also got the donuts at the end which were delicious I won't buy them again because there was only 8 and I paid $7 for them that's me isn't worth it there miniature Donuts I thought they were like big Donuts they're still good though. I paid more than I was expecting to pay but everything was completely worth the money. I felt so welcomed and not judged. There were people sitting behind us in a booth in my kids were of course standing up looking over the booth because the TV was up there and they were watching whatever was on people weren't staring at us. We were comfortable we didn't feel rushed we didn't feel like we had to get up and leave didn't feel like we were taking too much time or ordering too much food. It was definitely a family atmosphere we were welcomed and people were in the bar having their good time too and didn't bother us weren't like oh my gosh there's kids here. Just amazing highly recommend to anybody and everybody. We actually came from Des Moines and we had never heard of the restaurant never seen it and we were informed that there are some down here by us so we will be attending and hoping to get the same service and welcoming that we got up in...
Read moreMy first impression was the missing paint from the wall next to the bench in the booth where we were seated. Maybe OK for a 40 or 50 year old failing dive bar but this place is fairly new. A little paint goes a long way when making first impressions.
Next was the number of menu items. One can not possibly be everything for everybody. Large menus are nearly impossible to execute for even the best in the business. Define what you do well and do it well, nothing else.
My yardstick for any place that serves burgers is the burger so I ordered the Double Deluxe burger with Hop Jacks potato chips, my wife ordered the Western burger with Tots.
The place was busy so the service was just a bit challenged but acceptable. No unreasonable waits.
Don't order the Double Deluxe burger because it's just a sloppy mess. There was so much grease that the buns got all soggy and it fell apart in my hands. I had to finish the meat and condiments with a fork, the bun was inedible. The meat was overseasoned. I generally like a bit more salt than the ordinary customer but this was too salty. The chips are fine when they're crispy (you have to check each one) but when you get one that's not it'll make you want to toss the whole plate. My wife indicated that her "tots" were not hot. Not cold, slightly more than just warm but not hot. I tried one and found it to be edible but just another tater tot like the ones you find in the freezer section under the Ore-Ida label or the the Mexi Fries you get at Taco Time. The tots tasted slightly fishy as if the fry oil was old and in need of a change. It's also a good idea to cook fish in a separate fryer if the establishment has the ability to do that. Shortly afterward my wife noticed several hairs in the tots.
The only reason they get any stars at all is that our server convinced the manager to comp the table. I would much rather pay for my meal and get one that is executed properly.
Since anyone can have a bad day, we will probably return. I'd like to try the Deluxe burger to see if it can be properly executed and...
Read moreI walked into Hop Jack's with my mother and my boyfriend. We were seated by a man who appeared to be a manager because he was wearing a blue shirt whereas the other empoyees wore black. Once we were seated, our waitress (she wore glasses, had long dark hair that she wore in a ponytail, and was of middle age) greeted us and listed off the beverage options. My mother ordered her drink, and then our waitress asked me what I would like. I remembered that she had meantioned something about hot teas when she had listed off the beverage options, so I asked her what kind of hot teas they had. She didn't really seem to know exactly what they had but she managed to recall that they had mint and earl grey. I was debating on which one to have when she said, "Do you want me to come back?". So I said "yeah, please" assuming that she meant that she would take my boyfriend's order while I thought about it. Instead, she rolled her eyes and began to stomp away from our table. So I quickly called to her and said "oh no! sorry I wasn't asking you to leave." So she came back to our table, CLEARLY frustrated and put out. I could tell she was frustrated so I quickly settled for a glass of water along with my boyfriend. As she stormed off from our table again, my mother and I looked at each other and simultaneously agreed to leave the restaurant.
I can honestly say that I was polite to our waitress the entire time and I did absolutely nothing to deserve her attitude and disrespect. The worst service I have ever had anywhere. by far! It was not even busy in the restaurant at all. it was about 3 PM.
As we were walking out of the door to leave, the man (that we assume was a manager) that sat us 2 minutes earlier, asked us where we were going and what happened. We told him who our waitress was and what happened. He was apologetic and was instantly angered. He actually said "I know exactly who you're talking about".
maybe she has been rude before? maybe she was having an off day? either way, I hope something was done to ensure she doesn't treat anyone else...
