Food: good, slightly above average, though a bit salty on occasion, large portions that arrive fairly quickly. Service: Cheerful would be just slightly above reality, for the most part pleasant, though waitstaff always seem a little stressed. Once in a while you’ll get a discontented one, maybe a bad night before, maybe a displeasing customer earlier, or maybe just in a foul mood, but on the whole pretty decent. Prices: surprisingly non-offending, for the amounts you get you expect to be charged more. Which brings me to the next topic. Complaint: As this complaint may not be fair considering I (we) don’t frequently eat out and don’t think we’ve stopped in more than three times in the past year, we just don’t eat out that often, but it was Father’s Day so we gave it a shot. The complaint comes much after the visit, came when I got my bank statement and found out I had been charged $1.48 more than I authorized. The money’s not the issue, it’s the principal. The fact that this has happened on two thirds of my visits kinda makes its own statement. Given the high likelihood of it happening again based on the visit to chiseling ratio (I say chiseling because if it were simply an error, it would have showed up on my receipt and I would no one to blame but myself, but it didn’t) and the fact that an email to the company addressing the issue has to date gone without the decency of an acknowledgement is what has prompted this review. I don’t know what the table turn is, but for the sake of argument, let’s say 7 turns for Sunday morning, that could be anywhere from $10 to $100.00 extra revenue for someone. Thanks...

Really good breakfast, hit the spot.

Ordered the South of the Border skillet, with eggs over easy. Tasted great! The jalapeno cheese and chorizo added the perfect level of spice to the breakfast I was looking for. Definitely had a bite to it, but far from giving you the sniffles or sweats.

Wife's breakfast was some basic scrambled eggs and bacon over home fries with a side of biscuits. No complaints here. Loved the thicc bacon, cooked goldilocks style, not too crispy, but not too soft. These biscuits were delightfully buttery. Biscuits done right.

The only thing we were slightly caught off guard by with this place, had nothing to do with the food.

We were asking ourselves why it seemed the dress code for the serving staff, was short skirts/shorts and low cut tops. Except for who I assumed was the manager, based on her demeanor and jeans, but still a low cut shirt. It just seemed off.

This is not a sports bar or Hooters, it's a diner.

Like I said, just seemed off.

The food was...

Star diner is not changed much over the last 15 to 20 years . Still have large portions that are reasonably priced. Good selection of lunch and breakfast options without being overwhelmed with choices . Looks the same as it did 15 years ago but clean. Tables need some work as our booth top was clearly slanted and pulling away from the wall . Service is friendly and the food came out quickly. Tried the cheesy potatoes for the first time , not bad but not great . Ordered the chicken and waffle. Well priced at under $10 . The chicken tenders were great but the waffle was doughy in the center but still tasty . I would advise letting them sit on the waffle iron for just a tad longer. My wife for the Philly . The bun is not toasted which quicky became soggy and made the sandwich fall apart , toast the buns and you will have a better tasting sub that will hold up longer . The fries are hand cut and outstanding. Over all a 4/5 . Will be...

Good food. Came out super quick huge plates. No wait time for us. Plenty of parking. *Edit* 10-14-23. They no longer have homemade jam for your toast. Some of the food came out cold and at different times. we didn't get our home fries right with our food And when they did bring them out they were supposed to have onions on them. So instead of taking them back and cooking they just dump some onions on them. Omelette was just mixed up eggs with bacon and cheese thrown in. Not really an omelette at that point. Kind of disappointing this time. Biscuits and gravy was super super salty as well. So that had to go back. Waitress was friendly.
