Leaving a 1 star rating along with my experience below, hoping management reads it and hopefully works on their service. I came across their advertisement in the local Mcdonough guide and looked at their reviews; didn’t come across complaints about poor service so I went ahead and called in for information on reservation for a private party. After receiving the information regarding the private room, I decided to go ahead and make a reservation for 1 private grill, since my party wasn’t big enough to fill the party room. I’ve not asked once, but twice, during the phone call, if I would have to stop by to make a payment to secure the reservation. And I was told that it’s not needed as the $25 would be added to my final bill. On the day of the reservation, service received was just mediocre from the moment I entered. Me and half of the party arrived an hour earlier before the reservation. I notified the host and said that I was an hour early and asked if it was possible to be seated. At first it was okay, but after I notified him that half of my party is about 10-15 min behind, he said he can only seat my party when it’s complete. Ok, understandable. What I didn’t like however, is that the host saw that we had an infant and did not even offer to have us at least seated on the side as a courtesy. Even then I was still optimistic. When my party was complete, we finally got seated. And they let us sit in the main area. At first I thought it was the private area, but then one of my party member notified me that it wasn’t the private area. So I asked to speak to the manager. It took the manager 15 minutes during a NOT busy time to stop by... 15 minutes. While we were waiting on the manager the server asked us what we wanted to drink, so we started the put in the drink orders. At that time 3 out of 12 drinks were brought out before the manager arrived. She then asked what the issue is and I explained to her that I made a reservation for a private grill, and I did not anticipated to share with a different party. She said wasn’t notified that I needed a private grill, and even if I wanted a private, payment has to be made upfront. This turned into an argument when I tried explaining to her that I was told twice, not once, that I didn’t have to pay up front. She then said that whoever took the reservation is not in and couldn’t help me. After a back and forth conversation, and my guests offering to assist the server, she decided to let me in the private room. The orders were taken, the hibachi chef arrived, started the grill.. meanwhile the server still hasn’t brought out the remaining drinks. I literally had to ask three times. They finally received their drinks after soups were served. While the hibachi chef was going thru the orders, turned out that 3 out of the 12 orders were screwed up and had to be rectified. On top of that, after having to have visited several hibachi restaurants, I know that Hibachis are more about entertaining than the food. The chef I had was extremely basic. He just literally stood there just to cook. Not to entertain. No cracking jokes, no nothing. Just grilling.. And for all of this I had a service charge of 18% for mediocre service. Also to add that the manager never approached with an apology. No sorry, no nothing. Based on my experience, I would not recommend anyone to celebrate anything special in this restaurant, it’s not worth it.
