Hobby Lobby — Local services in McDonough

I have been shopping at this Hobby Lobby for several years. The majority of my shopping experiences have been enjoyable. However; on December the 2nd I encountered a cashier that had an exceedingly poor attitude and hostile disposition. This cashier made me feel unwelcomed in this establishment. A simple question as to an applied discount was met with an aggressive response. It was apparent that she did not want to communicate therefore that was the end of the interaction from that point for me. I felt perturbed and even thought about reporting her to her manager, but the current climate of unemployment and people really trying to survive right now in our Country compelled me to remain silent. So I am leaving this review here in hopes that someone cares enough to read the comments and encourage their staff to engage in proper conduct between their selves and the customer. Hobby Lobby offers a wide variety of crafting and creative supplies, and on this particular visit, I was excited to take advantage of the McCall’s pattern sale. At just $2.99 per pattern, it was the lowest price I’ve seen in a while—definitely a great deal for anyone who sews! I also picked up some thread, although I found that it didn’t work too well with my “bells and whistles” Singer machine. The store truly has everything a crafter could need, though I often find myself wishing they would just price items more consistently instead of relying so heavily on rotating sales. For instance, wall art was 50% off during my visit, which was a nice surprise, but it would be simpler if the prices were more straightforward year-round. The staff is generally helpful, though the checkout line can be slow and there’s often a wait. The inventory was okay a lot of items I wanted weren’t available. There was an option to order those items and return in five days to pick, which is a perk. However, We we’re not happy with the obvious racial fueled security monitoring. I say this because the older white ladies that were shopping had no one following them.

My group consisted of three black women. We we’re followed around as though we we’re expected to be thieves. The young lady with a short fade, watched and followed us. She even made eye contact with me several times because she was watching us so closely. A shorter lady with a short cut hair style was so close she could touch us.

Just because you are uncomfortable, doesn’t justify making your customers feel the same.
