While driving home from Atlanta we stopped in McDonough to find something to eat. We were going to get something else but I saw Cowboy Chicken and thought why not. First of all, I love the name. I think it’s funny and unique. Secondly, the customer service was excellent. I’m quite indecisive but the cashier was extremely patient with me while I ordered. For three meals and three drinks it was about 44$ which isn’t bad at all for the amount of food you get. I got the three piece dark with sweet potato fries and Mac and cheese, and honey mustard to dip my fries in. I also tried the cream spinach and the beans. To start, I love sweet potatoes and I eat them multiple times a day. But, these sweet potato fries were hands down the best I’ve ever had in my entire life. I had to physically stop eating to take a moment and appreciate it. Secondly, the mac and cheese was absolutely stunning. I was a little thrown off at first, there’s a taste I couldn’t place, but when I took a second bite it tasted like heaven. Don’t even get me started on the chicken. I’m not a big chicken person, I tend to find it to be too dry and unflavored from most restaurants. Not this chicken. It was juicy, tender, the skin was a perfect amount of crispiness you just needed to go for another bite for, a solid 6/5. The roll was lacking, I will say, I found it bland and didn’t finish it all. The spinach and beans were my mom’s so I only tried some, the beans were delicious, and had some kind of pepper to give it a almost tangy taste, and I’m not a big fan of creamed spinach but it was also good. Also the strawberry lemonade is to die for. Literally. Even the honey mustard I asked for was tasteful. Service was also very quick and everything was hot but not too hot you couldn’t dig in. I was content and full after finishing my meal. I’ll definitely be stopping by again in the future.

Update: I went by Cowboy Chicken today (5/22/23) to only get Peach Cobbler. It was NOT good, it was like bread instead of crust and it only had about 2 pieces of peach in it. The picture below is what it USED TO LOOK LIKE, I wish I would have taken an updated picture (but I thought there was no need, because last time it was good). The one time I had it before, it was delicious; but now, NO, I don’t plan on going back. Our job gave us catering from Cowboy Chicken; (to me) the food was good. My box meal had white meat chicken, twice baked potaters, green beans and a dinner roll. Cowboy Chicken is definitely a restaurant I plan on ordering food for my family. The green beans were crunchy, but that’s really the healthy way to cook your vegetables. The twice baked potaters are extremely good; make you want to overeat. Update: I went and ordered meals for my husband and I. They might as well say 1 piece of chicken, because the wing is overcooked (maybe they should cover the wings about the last 10mins of cooking). The ā€œRanchero Beansā€ I will never order again. The Roasted Broccoli; cooked like their Green Beans. The Cobbler was good. I’ve only seen legs this small on Cornish Hens, so…I’m not sure if my husband’s order was a Cornish hen. His meal, (Dark meat Chicken, Baked Sweet Potato, and fried Okra); my husband said his food was good, (I quote) ā€œI have no complaints!ā€

This is for the McDonough Location:

Calling customers that are there to patronize your business, "Strangers" is absolutely wild to me. Strong business' welcome and value feedback regarding customer experience so that they can continuously improve. I was having a pleasant experience until being forced to engage with an over zealous manager who had no issues disrespecting employees in front of customers. The employee was very kind, patient to explain the new menu items, and had welcoming energy. I was more than willing to return that patience back to him. However, the way in which she intervened, the energy became very uncomfortable and I was embarrassed for him. It was a conversation that could have waited until customers left in a more respectful manner to the staff working. When I brought it to her attention in private that it made me feel uncomfortable being apart of that as a customer, she later approached me on my way out, w a spirit of pride and lack of accountability for the poor customer experience that I endured as a result of her own behavior, and not his. (cognitive dissonance)is a real issue and not a desirable trait to have when leading others in any capacity. She didn't respect that she was being "corrected" in private, but also could not accept that she just embarrassed someone at work and in a public setting. She was defending a position that she could not stand on, when she saw nothing wrong with her own behavior toward him. I walked into what I thought was a business and not your home. I don't care to know what roles you play to each other outside of what I came for. All I want is good food in a safe -handling environment and a pleasurable experience. I can only imagine how she treats the rest of the staff that are not on the front line. The young man did provide a good customer experience as a frontline person and what he lacked in that moment could easily be improved with practice in a less agitated demonstration from "management". I skipped a lot of places to go there because I like to do business with likable people & "family oriented" establishments; however, I'm ok with never going back to this location in this franchise. I was completely turned off w her response to me as a customer and what she deems as appropriate for others but not for herself in a work setting. All I want is good food in a safe -handling environment and a pleasurable experience. That extends to how staff is treated and customers are valued. I'd rather be a "stranger" to...

No servsafe. Low health inspection score. Food not made properly. Managers are combative instead of fixing the problem. Lemonade containers have not been cleaned ( build up is gross) Chicken wings undercooked and served bloody. When told aout the problem i was told " we cant change the cook time". Raw chicken juices left on counter without being cleaned. Cross contamination on cutting boards. Old food is being sold instead of being thrown out. Food is not being held at correct temperatures. Jolt is being fabricated to satisfy corporate NOT TO ENSURE FOOD SAFETY. Cooks wear anything. No slip resistant shoes, loose hair, jewlery. Crew has on jewlery while handling food. Witnessed improper hand washing. Sanitizer containers are not replaced every 2 hrs. Trays that customers eat on are not properly washed or sanitized. Eat here at your own risk!!!!. Company knows about these issues and has done nothing to correct the problem. Expired items are relabeled and sold past expiration. Food being held at DANGER ZONE TEMPS without being thrown out. Leadership is more focused about money than ensuring customer safety. Sticky lobby floor. Fabricated paperwork. Improper food handling techniques. ROACHES ON BACK TABLE WHERE SMACKBird is prepared due to opened bread packages. Old food sitting in baskets above fryers are recooked and served to customers. When issues arise, the customer is viewed as WRONG until proven right. These people running this business do not care about what they are serving the community. NOONE IN THERE HAS SERVSAFE CERTIFICATION!!!!!! They dont know standard practices and procedures and are putting the whole mcdonough community at risk. simply ask who and when was the lemonade machine broken down and cleaned. Its not happening. Its simply refilled everynight and wiped down with dirty old water. Very rude. Cant communicate. No proper training...
