We found Lockwood's on the Collin County Foodies Facebook page and when I saw the picture of the chicken strip dinner, I knew I had to try this place! Service was great! We were greeted by two different people, both super friendly and happy to share about the place. This is their 3rd and newest location, and they have only been open for about two months here so people don't know about it yet. I can tell you, people are missing out! $10 old fashioned was HUGE compared to what you get at other places (and absolutely delicious!!). The frozen Lockwood Bramble was HEAVENLY, especially on a hot Texas summer day. So refreshing! The Espresso Yourself Martini had a great chocolate/coffee taste and the oat milk added a nice richness. As expected, the chicken strip dinner, which came with tots and mac and cheese, was so delicious. Hot, crisp chicken, not too dry or juicy. Just perfect. The sides were phenomenal and could have been a meal on their own, if I'm being honest! So much food! We also tried the Tomato Basil Soup (perfection), the Truffle Shuffle Tots (excellent, the cheese on it was really good, and loved the fact that they brought mayo out as a side with it), and the Southern Bean Dip (really nice lemon garlic flavor, and the butter beans and toasted bread with it took it to another level. I honestly don't think you can go wrong here. Literally everything was delicious, the service was fantastic, and the atmosphere is a fun and inviting environment! It's not everyday you see Biggie, Dolly, Post Malone, and Ace Ventura, and Kip in the same place! 😜...
Read moreThis is one of the places that I would have NEVER chosen - I'm into beer and wine, not into liquor or cocktails (except for plain or dirty martinis). However, in one of those endless "No, where do YOU want to eat today?" with my wife, she finally broke down and chose this "not so hidden gem".
Wow. Just... Wow.
We got there at the ungodly hour of 3:40pm, with only 3 people sitting in the bar and all tables unoccupied. We were promptly greeted by the nicest server who expertly explained the restaurant's concept and dishes.
Dirty martinis, gin and vodka, were delicious, on point. Southern Bean Dip was amazing - whole and mashed butter beans with a little kick to them with just the right seasoning. My wife had the Crawfish Monica - cock-full of crawfish, cavatappi pasta, a delicious creamy (NOT heavy) sauce that just hit the spot. I had the Jive Turkey sandwich - stacked with cracked pepper turkey, Havarti, a surprisingly delicious chutney on the freshest baguette. I could only eat half - generous portion!
This is one of our new favorites and will be back. AND...
Read moreYears ago I had the best Chicken and Waffles I have ever tasted while in Las Vegas. I have been chasing that experience for years, with no success until today! Lockwood in downtown McKinney was having their first Sunday Brunch service and we happened to stumble in. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles and it was superb. The waffles are light, crispy, savory waffles infused with lots of rosemary. The chicken is well seasoned with a crunchy crust and juicy meat. The crema and syrup are great compliments to the dish. I also ordered the Texas 10-4, a delicious Bourbon drink with a maple pecan syrup and pecans floating in. My wife ordered the brunch menu pastrami sandwich (made from brisket) and that was equally delicious. Her Bloody Mary was pleasantly spicy and well adorned with celery, and various pickles. She said it was probably the best Bloody Mary she has ever had. A great experience in a charming space....
