I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at Dyer's Burgers located at 205 Beale St in downtown Memphis. I feel compelled to share my negative encounter with the hope that others can avoid such a frustrating and unpleasant dining experience. First and foremost, both the waitress and manager displayed a shocking level of rudeness and unprofessionalism. Their behavior towards customers was completely unacceptable. It seemed as though they believed the automatic 20 percent gratuity fee charged for parties of 2 or more entitled them to treat customers with utter disregard and disrespect. It's disheartening to witness such a sense of entitlement among the employees. To make matters worse, the restaurant's policy regarding parties of 10 is beyond absurd. Instead of allowing separate checks for each individual, they force the entire party to be paid out on one bill. This meant that, despite only being a party of 2, I was expected to foot the bill for the meals of 10 people, most of whom I didn't even know. Consequently, my daughter and I were denied the opportunity to eat, as the burden of paying for others' meals was simply unreasonable and unfair. This experience left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. I will never set foot in this downtown Memphis location of Dyer's Burgers again. It is a shame that such a popular establishment allows its staff to treat customers with such disrespect and enforces nonsensical policies that ruin the dining experience. If you're looking for a friendlier and more customer-oriented atmosphere, I strongly recommend visiting Dryer's location in Collierville instead. Overall, I cannot stress enough how negatively this visit impacted me. Dyer's Burgers on Beale St. is a place to be avoided at all costs. Save yourself the trouble and choose a restaurant that values its customers and provides a pleasant...
Read moreWe had lunch here and it was honestly the worst experience everrrrr. We showed up at 12:15, and had until 1:30 to eat, and it was just burgers so you wouldn’t expect it to take long. A lot of people followed us in, so I’d say 12 people sat at 12:15 (2 different tables).
We waited around for sooo long until a server showed up, and then another group of 12 showed up (2 tables).
It was about 12:30 and the people that showed up AFTER us got served their food and drinks before we got served drinks (and half the people at our table only got drinks).
We eventually got served just our food at like 12:50, and we were worried about getting the check.
1:00 the table that sat at the same time as us got served half their food because a server only took half of the table’s order???
1:10 our table got their drinks. We asked to get our check. Half of the table behind us STILL hadn’t gotten their food yet.
We got our check at 1:20, and made it easier for them by making it all 1 ticket. They still put a 20% gratuity charge when that was the worst service ever?? While my friend was paying, he was asked by a SERVER to bring 2 sodas to the table that was behind us (the one that hadn’t had half of their food), and he did. They made him bring food to another persons table!!! HE DOESNT WORK THERE???
We ran out of there as fast as we could and the table that was behind us finally got their food and payed, but apparently the didn’t even get a lot of things they ordered (and still payed for those items!!!!). Honestly worst dining experience...
Read moreAccording to their official Facebook page, Dyer's opens at 11 AM. I was excited to eat there while on a brief visit to Memphis, and stopped by on my way out of town. I parked and walked down Beale Street a few minutes before 11. It was exactly 11 AM when I walked up to Dyer's and opened an unlocked front door only to be greeted by a woman yelling "We're closed!" at me from across the room. When I asked what time they would be open, I was ignored. I closed the door and stepped back not wanting to intrude, and suspecting the Facebook page was incorrect, I looked for operating hours posted on the outside of the building. There were none.
The woman who told me the restaurant was closed at its ostensible open time, then got up and walked toward the door. I thought she was being nice enough to tell me when they'd be open for business, but she only locked the door and walked away.
My experience made me feel disrespected and disregarded, but I wouldn't have minded if they were running a few minutes late and had left the door unlocked by accident if the woman working inside had simply answered my question. I was excited to eat at Dyers, but that feeling evaporated in light of how I was treated. I walked back to my car, hungry and disgusted. I don't think I'll go out of my way to come back to give Dyer's...
