This place is my new favorite spot on Beale! Amazing wings, great drinks, and the best service in the South! I entered here because I started off my 12 year old's birthday celebration at 10:00 AM after we drove to Memphis the night before with our 2 service dogs. As soon as we entered, we were treated like royalty by a very friendly bartender in the outside bar. Apparently, they were open 2 hours early in order to let a national group of art and craft makers set up tables outside in the amazing outside bar area (that is just as nice as their indoor bar, or nicer). While I was drinking my first bourbon double of the day, the bartender decided that my birthday girl needed a frozen lemonade and not just water. Next, the owner brought out dogs some water, and later, he added ice to the water because it was a scorcher outside. The next thing I knew it was 11:00 a.m., and my 12 year old was hungry. Even though the grill was not going to open until noon, the bartender went inside and cooked my niece the gourmet fries she wanted, AND HE brought her a Shirley Temple. Before I knew it, the owner asked if we liked soccer, and when I said my niece did, he brought is 2 tickets for the Memphis professional soccer team. Then, he brought me a sample of his red ale, which is stored in whiskey barrels from the local Old Dominick Distillery. To go along with it, he brought me a Philly Steak slider from his secret menu and even included some au juis to dip it in. When my niece wanted one, he went back inside and brought her one out. THIS OWNER, and ALL of his staff know what hospitality really is, and they deliver! When the house band arrived at 2:30, the bartender had already prepped them to sing a blues version of a birthday song for my birthday girl. Then, the wife of the husband-wife band came by and taught my niece how to play the harmonica I had just bought as a birthday gift! Then, the owner of the establishment came by with his wife and delivered the birthday girl a souvenir mug and birthday wishes! Later, the drum line group that marches through Beale and to the stadium before the game came to start their March at the brewery. The owner tossed out free team t-shirts, and the owner and all of the game attendees at the bar followed the drum line down Beale and to the stadium. The gracious, fun hospitality at Ghost River is infectious, and my niece now thinks Memphis is the best city in the South thanks to the folks running this place! I...
Read moreUPDATE: Ghost River took the time to meet with my friend and I and hear us out. Really appreciated their concern with our experience and willingness to talk. New managers seem incredibly nice and welcoming! We will be making a return trip to here.
ORIGINAL POST: I have come here several times now, but last night (3.5.22) is the first time I ever wanted to just walk out. The manager went straight up to my friend and I as soon as we walked in and told us that this wasn't a place to just use the restroom. Didn't offer us a table, ask us what we were looking for, make small talk, hype the brewery, ask us anything about craft beer, didn't mention the live music with no cover charge; didn't do a single thing you would expect from someone who is supposed to be bringing in customers. We were met immediately with disrespect from that manager assuming we could only be up to no good. It was even more frustrating this guy was trying to get us to leave when there was only about 8 customers there to begin with. Then on our way out, other staff told us to have a great night but the manager ignored us at that point. Funny how he was only on the ball when he wanted us to leave.
Anyway.. We still stayed for a beer just because we wanted to eat from the kitchen here. Heard good things about it and the food exceeded those expectations. I would definitely return for...
Read moreIf you are looking for great beer while you are on Beale St or just in Memphis, then I highly recommend Ghost River brewing. We wanted a good beer and found that they had a spot on Beale St. We are from the Pacific Northwest and love our beers. They did not disappoint. The live music had just ended, so we sat at the bar and struck up a conversation with the bartender. He was very knowledgeable about their brewing techniques and the flavor profiles. We had one of the best IPAs while we were there. He had us sample a few others that he thought we would like. I switched to a cherry sour that I found so very delicious.
What more could you want than great beer and great conversation you ask? Well, I wanted a tin sign for my room back at home and they were out of them. I got back to my hotel and found that all of Ghost River brew establishments were closed for our last day in town. I texted their main number that Google said usually responds within and hour. I didn't expect a response. Not only a response, but they had me come by the main brewery the next day while they were closed to pick up my sign.. What great customer service.. ...
