I wouldn’t call it the best gelato as you would find in ROMA, FIRENZE,VENEZIA, MILANO, NAPOLI but the staff is extremely friendly- two women from Argentina and Venezuela. The gelato didn’t have the same richness as ones in Italy and the flavors weren’t as intense. We had coconut, pistachio, chocolate, strawberry. None were memorable except the price. We threw the pistachio away. It’s a cute little boutique with a seating area that included copies of People’s magazines. We left a nice PROPINA. It’s a nice place but after eating at Joe’s, I wished we had just eaten desserts there. If the quality was upgraded it could match the quality of our homes here. Maybe it’s the AIR INCORPORATION. Maybe at 4D they whip in more air than in Italy. Yes all gelato and ice cream have air in them. Without some air the gelato would be like a popsicle. But when your gelato has less zip or less taste it is because of too much air added. Giolitti in Rome, Italy to me is the standard bearer of what gelato should taste like but maybe here my neighbors like 4D. I will go back and do a melt test because let’s face it in AUGUST there is nothing like a cup of gelato to reward us from our 5 mile walk a long South Pointe.
Grazie mille....
Read moreHaving visited tens, if not hundreds, of gelato shops, 4D Gelateria has got to be the the worst. I walked in with a group of 5 other individuals for the first time and we each wanted to try the various flavors offered. There was no sign or warning that we were limited to how many samples we could try. We averaged about 2-3 samples for the first 4 individuals, which is normal at most shops that offer samples. The cashier rudely and abruptly informed us that she would not give us anymore samples. So the other two remaining individuals didn’t get to sample the other flavors they wanted to try. Such heinous behavior given the price point ($9/10 a cup).
Additionally, their gelato wasn’t even that good. I sampled the passion fruit and I had to physically chew the ice. The other flavors were alright at best.

Read moreNot sure why this place doesn’t get more recognition. It is legit a gelato lover’s dream! It’s The gelato is so tasty, with a rich, creamy texture that’s pure perfection. Not too sweet, just the right balance of indulgence. I went wild sampling flavors (they let me try as much as I wanted—love that lol), and the pistachio, coconut, and cookies and cream stole the show
Pistachio was nutty bliss, coconut was a tropical escape, and cookies and cream had decadent chunks in every bite (think traditional rich creamy cookies and cream with the right amount of crunch and grainy rocky cookie texture). Staff were super friendly, super patient
Pro tip.. eat as much of the gelato INSIDE as you can.. bc as soon as you’re outside.. DRIP DRIP MELT CITY
Have been back and still share the same level of enthusiasm.. surprisingly really high quality gelato in the tiny corridors of...
