Extra Virgin Bistro Miami beach — Restaurant in Miami Beach

Having been to many dozens of South Beach eateries over the years, our experience here with both service and food were below expectations. To begin, we were first seated under a tree. There were leaves and what appeared to be droppings on the table cloth. When we asked the hostess for a different table she responded that all other tables were “reserved” even though we made a reservation in advance. So, we cleared the table cloth ourselves and sat down. The first course was the Brussels salad. The quality was not good, with small leaves mixed in a lemon vinaigrette. Overall it was soggy and bland, lacking depth and seasoning. It could have been made more interesting with chunks of parmesan. The carbonara pasta was rather pasty and the sauce was again lacking proper seasoning. Miniature pieces of “pork belly” did not help improve the flavor. The white pizza was the best dish as it had a very light crunchy crust and the ingredients tasted very fresh and flavorful, but the greens lacked flavor. Fresh arugula would have been a nice touch. Oh these five star reviews must be fake or something… maybe it’s possible the brunch is good but do NOT go to the comedy event or even dinner here (I think they’ve cancelled the comedy events because there’s no way anybody had a good experience). We RSVPed for free with a spending minimum, which sounded like a great deal at first. Well, I have never received such tiny portions for such high prices in MY LIFE and I’ve been to a lot of Miami restaurants. It felt like a joke, every dish was TINY. It was truly insulting and dishonest, which is my biggest pet peeve for a restaurant. You want to serve mini meals? Fine, just be honest about the portions and call them kid sized. Not to mention the comedy itself started an hour late and was the worst comedy Id seen in my life, no wonder it was free. Waste of time and waste of an evening. Never coming back and have told all my friends this is the worst place in Miami. Scamming people...
