My recent visit to Mammamia Gelato Italiano was unfortunately a letdown. While I had anticipated savoring an authentic Italian gelato, the experience fell short on multiple levels, particularly with steep pricing and mediocre flavors.
We sampled a variety of gelatos - Nutella, Amarena Cherry, Tiramisu, and Cheesecake. The Nutella and Amarena Cherry flavors were enjoyable, but the Tiramisu and Cheesecake left a lot to be desired. They lacked depth and seemed quite bland for such classic dessert-inspired flavors.
The sticker shock came with the bill - $21 for two small cups of gelato. Given the size of the servings and the lackluster flavors, it was hard to see the justification for such a steep price.
Adding to the dissatisfaction was the absence of clear pricing in the store, leading to an unpleasant surprise at checkout. Yes, we could have asked, but who anticipates $21 for two small cups of gelato?
In summary, Mammamia Gelato Italiano offers a subpar gelato experience, marked by exorbitant prices and disappointing flavors. The establishment needs to either make their pricing more transparent and reasonable or significantly enhance the quality of their offerings to...
Read moreThe gelato I purchased was fine... Yes, it's a bit overpriced, but you can expect that due to the location. What's not fine, however, is the fact that this business decided to upcharge a non-authorized tip on my card. I still have my receipt to prove it. The card scanner is located behind the counter, so I had no way of leaving a tip unless the employee swiping my card had asked if I would like to leave one... and he didn't ask. The funny thing is that I almost always leave a tip, and I would have left a tip if I had been asked. But I have a big problem with this business not asking for tips, and then just deciding to upcharge its customers however much they would like to. I've never had another establishment do this in all the years I've used a card for payment. Bottom line: it's a disgusting business practice. Don't go here unless you're paying with cash or willing to be scammed. There are other reviewers (also check Yelp) who have experienced the same problem, so it's a recurring habit...

Then to have to pay nearly $10 for an ice cream is pretty punchy.
The ice cream/gelato itself is very nice, I went for the caramel and the dark chocolate, I have to say by the time I got to the end of the caramel I was done, so sadly I struggled on but had to waste half the chocolate, hence why I only wanted 1 scoop.
This unfortunately is something I have come across time and time again in the states, portions that are to big so there is this necessity to waste, it’s not good.
Give the option for 1 scoop and you can have...
