GRATUITY IS INCLUDED (but they tell you it isn't)

We had a pretty good meal and the service was at or below par. The issue came when the check arrived. I asked for the tab and instead of bringing a detailed bill, the waiter brought a condensed check with only the final total. I asked him if gratuity was included and he said no, so I added 20% and paid. We had friends dine here the next day and they told me they found it surprising how they were billed so they asked for a detailed receipt and 20% gratuity WAS included. So I ended up tipping 40%+ I went back to The Setai and talked to a manager and they said they would take care of the overage on their end and not to worry. A week went by with no resolution. Reaching out to numerous people was useless and they stopped communicating with me after continuing to ask me for more documentation of my meal that I didnt have (they had) I filed a dispute for the tip overage ($70) and they contested it saying I had originally agreed to that amount. My bank agreed without contacting me. I now must FAX a dispute continuance and send Chase my correspondence with The Setai where they told me they would take care of the error. I have no idea why The Setai is trying so hard to avoid rectifying this issue, but needless to say...I won't be...

Not a happy camper. Just left from picking up my daughter from a dinner party after having an allergic reaction to the food. She studied your menu very carefully and asked the server if there were any nuts I'm the meal. No he said. After bringing her meal to the table and beginning to eat. She immediately started itching and her mouth was burning and lips swelling. The server then told her the oil had cashew in it. You let her storm out of your restaurant alone to run to cvs across a busy street for medicine. Noone checked to see if she made it safe. She could have collapsed or gotten hit by a car. I drove from Oakland Park to South Beach to pick her up. She was with a party of teens and I just wished you guys could have handled the situation better. She tried to prevent it by asking all the right questions and it still wasn't enough. Now she's crying in pain from the stomach cramps. Runny nose. Nauseated, Dizzy, and so irritable I had to give her a relaxer to tru sleeping. Yes, I'm not happy. Please train your...

If you want to have a nice dinner, don’t even bother coming to this place. The ambience is nice, and that the only good thing I can recollect. Everything else: food, drinks, service is not good at all. The check is pretty high like all places in Miami Beach, but for this kind of money you must be treated accordingly. The server was rude and when I asked for a mixed berry cocktail without any sweet simple syrups (healthier option), he told me I can’t return it in case I do not like it! Of course it was a terrible drink with a slice of strawberry and basil (and it’s a supposed to a be a mix of berries!) Other meals like steak (lots of fat), salmon crudo, octopus was ok. In general the food is mediocre. In the end we asked to split the bill and the server refused to do it! I have never seen a server refused to assist guests in the restaurant! We had to calculate ourselves ! I mean, for the bill over $600 you can’t even help us! My recommendation - do not go there! You can find a better place...

The setting is beautiful, but the food did not live up to the setting. We were sat quickly due to a reservation. While the burrata and octopus appetizers were delicious, the sea bass was terrible. First, it was a perfect rectangle, which makes you think it was previously a frozen block. Second, it was served on what appeared to be cast iron plate, but both the fish and plate were cooler than room temperature. When I informed the waiter, he was kind and said they would get a warm one. When it was served the second time it was clearly the exact same piece of fish that was served the first time and the person delivering it said “it was cold and now it’s hot”. I was so shocked that I laughed out loud. While that was a true statement, I have never been served a rewarmed piece of fish at any restaurant, nonetheless one that boasts a top dining experience and has prices to match. Needless to say, it was very, very disappointing.

Hey guys, The brunch at “The Setai” was a bit of a mixed experience. The food was absolutely spectacular, with exquisite flavors that really stood out. However, the service left much to be desired. Upon arrival, the front staff seemed overwhelmed and unable to handle the large crowd efficiently. It felt like the restaurant takes more reservations than they can manage. Despite having a specific reservation time, we had to wait over 50 minutes to be seated, which I found unacceptable. Thankfully, once we were finally seated, things flowed much better, and the service improved significantly. While the food was incredible, the management of reservations and the organization at the front desk is an area that definitely needs improvement.

Gorgeous venue overlooking the beach, with very nice clientele and design. It's great to have a nice dinner, grab a few drinks, and have lunch with a serene view. We went for Miami Spice offerings before hitting the beach. The drinks were good, but the food was okay, considering that this is a five-star restaurant. The chicken was so dry and was missing flavor. The tuna tartare was great though, and so was the wagyu steak, cooked perfectly medium rare. Overall, I would come back for the bites, views, and of course, cocktails. 😉
