AWAY Spa — Local services in Miami Beach

During July 1 - August 1 is spa month in Miami, what an amazing idea to be honest! I went to the Away Spa at The W on South Beach and the staff was beyond wonderful. The reason I gave only 4 stars is I like luxury spa's and have been to many however, the one thing I didnt like about this spa was when you're there you have to wait in the bathroom/changing area to be called on for your services. There is not really a nice waiting area maybe some couches but nothing luxury or fancy about it. I have been to spas that while waiting for your treatments there are steam rooms, salt rooms and even seawater ponds to lounge in while waiting. Moving forward, David was the gentlemen who took my reservation. David was so polite, professional and so welcoming upon my arrival. David even called me a few days earlier to make sure I was still coming and that if I needed anything he was there to help. My massage person was great his name was Brenton. Brenton was also very polite and professional always made sure during the treatment to ask if the pressure was okay and just wanted to make sure I was comfortable and enjoy the massage. My facial lady name was Marlin and she was so sweet. Marlin explained the Hydrafacial in details and made sure that I was comfortable with all the wonderful products she was putting on my face. All in all, I would say this is a nice spa, they do allow you to have a beach chair and umbrella on the beach before your treatments, which I did also enjoy. Best spa I have ever been to!! My boyfriend surprised me with the couples package on our 3 year anniversary and I don’t think either of us will be able to top this experience. From the beginning Anthony and Marie welcomed us like family, we were given delicious detox lemon water & clean, comfy and stylish robes. We were guided to the spacious and luxurious locker rooms to change and head to our massage and facials. I came out of the women’s locker room to my boyfriend laughing with Anthony as if they had been friends for years. Tatiana and Lauren took over upstairs with our massages and facials and it was the epitome of perfect relaxation. My boyfriend hates facials and he told me and Tatiana that her hands were magic. Lauren’s massages are purely spiritual and revitalizing. They took their time to make sure we really got the most out of our experience and truly made our moment so special. The steam shower was the icing on the cake. We had a private lunch with a bottle of champagne before heading down to the beach for our free chairs and umbrella. We had conversations with Marie, Anthony and Kristine before leaving & I did NOT want to leave 😂 I will never go to any other spa in Miami. Period. A few quick observations for future guests.

Two of us visited the spa for two types of facials - Environmental detox and hydro facial. The weather was gloomy and cold and therefore we did not use the beach or pool access.

FACIALS The hydro facial was nice but not close to $400 nice. The aesthetician was really pleasant and the room was quiet and comfortable. The other facial was a glorified “at home mask” service. Again, not sure why the cost for someone to apply a mask and then massage you - overall, an overpriced, nice SPA experience.

SHOWERS There are two showers. The large, handicap shower was clogged and overflowing. Upon switching to the second, smaller shower, the water temperature controls were not working. The water could only get to luke warm. In the grand scheme of things, not a big deal but flagging for anyone who likes their shower temps on the warm side.

STEAM ROOM The first thing you smell upon entering is mold and I’m certain that cannot be healthy for anyone to breathe in. This should be addressed immediately.

OTHER If you’re planning to get ready (hair etc) they do not provide round brushes or combs. There are a few, very cheap hair straightens and curling irons ($20 ConAir ones).
