If I could give it ZERO stars, I would. I had a horrible experience at the Dayton, Ohio Hook & Reel Cajun Seafood & Bar. First, I ordered my meal and pre-tipped online. The app said that my meal would be ready at 5:37 p.m. I arrived early. However, I did not get an order until after 6:00 p.m.
When I got home, I realized that the hostess had given me the wrong order. Frustrated, I immediately called the restaurant. The manager said that she would put in a new ticket for my original order. I emphasized that I wanted a fresh order. I didn't want food that had been sitting at the hostess stand for a prolonged period of time.
Upon my SECOND arrival, the hostess tried to give me the food that had been sitting at the hostess stand. I explained that the manager had promised me a new fresh order. Confused, she whispered to another hostess, and they took the order to the back.
Ten minutes later, the hostess brought out my food again. It was clearly the same food from the original order which had sat at the hostess stand. The bread to my sandwich was wet, my fries were soggy, and my soup and spaghetti were cold. Even the cardboard containers to my baskets were collapsing from the water vapor. My family was unable to eat any of it, and we had to pursue other dinner options.
While the food was disappointing, I am most upset that the restaurant ruined what was to be one of the few relaxing Saturday evenings I get to spend with my family. I will never go...
Read moreGood afternoon,
This evening my family and myself attended your Dayton Hook and Reel location for a celebratory dinner. With us being a group of seven, we made sure to reserve space. Our initial impression was positive as our server was prompt with our order and the food came out soon after. We ordered a variety of appetizers, one Reel Catch, four of the Fall Specials which were to include two snow crab clusters, a pound of head off shrimp, broccoli, corn, and potatoes. Upon review, none of us had received our corn or potatoes. I e promptly told out server and he immediately checked with the kitchen staff.
Unfortunately, his response to us was that the kitchen manager did not believe us and needed to inspect our bags. I’m not sure about you but five people would have no reason to lie about not getting proper service. Having a restaurant background, I am well aware of the importance of food preparation and expo. The audacity of your staff to call your customers liars, and then physically inspect our food is blatantly disrespectful. I then requested to speak to the manager Warren and he attempted to resolve the issue but not before telling me that this happens often and it was because his Chinese kitchen staff did not listen to him or speak English. He invited me to give unadulterated feedback on Yelp, which I will be doing shortly. I just wanted you full aware of your disrespectfully and down right xenophobic employees at 2564 Miamisburg...
Read moreRecently, my wife and I decided to have a late Cajun lunch at our local Hook n Reel Seafood bar. We were able to quickly be greeted and seated by the hostess to get started. Parking was a breeze given the large parking lot adjacent from the Dayton Mall
Alisha was a great server who provided an in-depth breakdown of the specialty drinks and entrees for the day. Being that we've never experienced Hook n Reel before we didn't know what to expect, but Alisha made ordering very simple. She knew her stuff and added some flair to the experience with her humor
The food arrived quicker than expected, less than 15 mins, which was also a huge plus. We love spicy food, but were deterred from going all in and opted to go with the hook and reel sauce at the mild level. However, we did order a side of spicy on the side and, boy did it make my upper lip sweat :). Err on the side of caution if you do not want to sniff and sweat during your meal by putting the spicy sauce or fire dauce on the entire boil
The $33 special with a pound of snow crab leg, 1/2 of black mussels, and 1/2 pound of crayfish, that included 2 ref potatoes and a 1/2 an ear of corn was spot on and fulfilling enough for lunch. My wife's mini boil which contained shrimp, corn, potatoes, and additional boiled eggs she added was plentiful for her as well
Overall, for Dayton, what a way to get a Creole Cajun experience that warms you up on a semi-cold mild Spring day. We will be back to try...
