I was excited to revisit Bonding thai on Friday as I had previously enjoyed my experience there a few months back. I am not sure if there is a new Chef but the food and vibe has definitely changed. They definitely seemed short-staffed and overworked. Additionally I was seated at the bar where the owner was standing and he did not greet me or my guest, which as someone who works in hospitality I can tell you doesn't come off well. A simple "Hi, Welcome" would have already added points to this review. The last time I was at Bonding I said "This is the best tom yum soup I ever had" ... the soup I got this time was definitely not that same soup :/ My pad thai took a while to come out, the kitchen seemed to be dealing with a lot. When I got it it was oily and lackluster. The restaurant has lots of pretty bottles of sake on display but none of them are available to order.Seating is also very limited, if they used the space better at least two more tables could be added. Overall I wouldnt recommend this place at this given time, then need the old chef back and whatever it takes to get more employees back. I really wanted this to be a great experience but it just wasnt. I have fun in life no matter what but it wasnt by any doing on the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDespite being a long time customer, Iām extremely appalled that after ordering something that is always on the happy hour menu, I was charged the regular price (that they didnāt even offer to adjust as it was THEIR assumption/misunderstanding).
When I brought up this concern upon paying the bill , the server says they didnāt know because I ādidnāt sayā while orderingā¦. It is already happy hour; why would I need to say anything ? I always order drinks , and have never āsaid anythingā; they always just charge the happy hour price. The fact that there was no effort to correct this and instead they just kept the bill as it was, is supremely classless. Especially for a customer that has regularly been coming in for years. My loyalty goes unreciprocated and even disrespected (although this shouldnāt even happen to a first-time customer, as the restaurant should take accountability and adjust the check in such situations).
No thanks , I will not be returning, as it is cheap tricks like these which make a dining experience distastefulā not to mention having to pay a mandatory 20% gratuity; for that , you can find much more refined and elevated service and food which which define etiquette and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBonding is your Thai place of Brickell. If you want takeout it might be a good idea to order here since itās a small place. It can get cramped at times especially in the middle of the restaurant so I would order takeout or sit not in the middle of the restaurants.
The service was great and waiters were very attentive to our table since we were a big party. The food was alright. There are many options to choose from so you wonāt be hangry when you leave. I came a few years back and remembered the food to be great Thai food. I guess my expectations were too high because the taste of the food overall was average. The food wasnāt bad at all it was alright. FYI all of the curries are made with fish sauce. We ordered the vegetable fried rice (itās Thai food, thereās always gonna be fried rice involved) and a couple of classic curries (red, green, massaman, vegetable, chicken, and beef). To me it tasted the same as any other Thai place. I will come back to this place though maybe for some takeout and a sitout when Iām in Brickell. PS get a Thai donut...
