After a few libations at the nearby social event, I needed something solid to munch and within walking distance. D'oro was golden, especially thay though they were closing at 10pm I was able to get a full meal. My cashier was also very pleasant.
The space seems geared toward takeout, with a small seating area both inside and out (puppy friendly). They also have a large wine selection and deli cuts; perfect to take out for a picnic or dinner at home. However, for those of us who set off smoke alarms when we try to cook, they have a great selection of pre-made pastas.
I started with their bruschetta prosciutto, loaded with perfectly salty prosciutto and creamy mozz. These actually had such a generous amount of meat that I had room for only half of my main. The fusilli bolognese I enjoyed had a perfect bounce just north of al dente with plenty of tomatoes, ground beef ragu as well as an add-on of extra marinara sauce. Besides great taste, my to-go container was densely packed with food I was able to split into last night and tonight's dinner. The temperature was just right, and I didn't have to reheat it.
There was also a nice spread of gelatos, canolis and other desserts. I'll save my fifth star for when...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat a shame they have such dreadful service here! The food is always great and they have a pretty good happy hour daily. But, after getting our meal, which was delicious, and two glasses of house wine - that's where the service stops. We waited for 30 minutes for them to remove our plates, swarming with fruit flies, despite being the only diners in the cafe, and the waitress walking past our table many times. In the end, the flies were so bad I moved all the empty soiled plates to another table. She saw me moving them, told me not to worry about them, then walked away again! Finally, the guy came out and removed them. We tried to make eye contact for an hour to order more wine but to no avail. We probably would have ordered at least another 2 glasses each. So in the end we told our friends to meet us elsewhere and left having spent less than half we would normally spend at a local cafe. Get your service sorted out and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreItās a very small place in Downtown Miami with a great dĆ©cor inside, and a lot of street side tables outside.
We ordered white wine (which was good), I got the Carpaccio di Salmone and my husband tried the Carpaccio di Bresaola.
The Carpaccio di Salmone was ok, but I canāt say the same for the Carpaccio di Bresaola: the meat looked and tasted as if it were too old.
The service was also very disappointing.
Not knowing that here you have to order first and then sit wherever you want, we went straight to sit at a table inside. We waited for a long time trying and failing to get the attention of the staff, although they were constantly passing by us doing their chores. Finally my husband decided to go to the counter to call somebody, and thatās when we found out about their process.
The...
