This bakery was down the street from our Airbnb, so we ended up here a few mornings to grab coffee and a bite. I have tried only one thing here, and even though they have an impressive selection of pastries and cakes, I don't think I could ever try anything else after being spoiled by their guava and cheese pastry (pastelito de guayaba + queso).
Let me tell you: this pastry is out of this world. It feels like it weighs nothing. The dough is so well laminated and flaky, even more so I would say than a typical croissant. And it has the perfect amount of guava paste and cream cheese. It's deceptively light, and yet it will definitely power you through the morning. Once, I got it and it was still WARM like it was fresh out of the oven. I died a little with every bite.

Sadly, things are changing: pastelitos are about 20% smaller than they used to be and they’ve done something to the “pastry recipe”. The last three times, it’s just been underwhelming. How is it possible that the Pastelitos look/taste “Day Old” at 7:30am? Pastelito de Carne: Dry Pastry with a cardboard texture and meat filling that is akin to Sand (over baked) Pastelito de Queso: again, dry...but the worst part is the top of the pastelito. There is No/Zero moisture with No sugar and they are burnt. The ends should be slightly chewy and one should be able to taste the butter/flour/sugar mix. Guyaba: only thing keeping this pastelito alive is the filling...the pastry is the same dry + day old tasting mix. Hope ownership reads this and addresses their recent...
