If I could rate them a 10 I sure would! This quaint restaurant exceeded our expectations from all points! All staff was polite & waitress was great! We chose to dine outside under an umbrella. The patio had 6 or 7 tables (maybe more?) with ample room to move & clean. I was quite impressed with the mini steel refuse cans for the tabletops! I dont think I've ever seen them but loved the idea! We used for empty jelly/butter containers, sugar packets, lemon slice, etc. While reviewing the daily specials I was contemplating the Bananna Bread or Red Velvet French Toast. The waitress said they were known for their omelets & Marscapone Stuffed French Toast. I chose the latter which was magnificent! It needed no maple syrup however I did try it with some. Next time I would choose to ask for more of the strawberry sauce it was topped with. My husband had the blueberry French Toast which was good but said he wished he had ordered what I got! This restaurant also has lunch & dinner options which I can't wait to try. It is a must try if you are in the Michigan City area. You will not be disappointed!

This morning, I showed up for a simple solo breakfast just for a break in life. Business was steady but not too busy/noisy or slow/decrepid. A nice family cozy atmosphere. No wait for the table and very quick/attentive service from the staff. I ordered the country breakfast which sat at 10.95 with on the menu with coffee (unlimited refill) st 3.25. Frankly, it was not an "OMG, this is a 1 of a kind" extraordinary dish but was delicious for price point and serving size. Served with 4-5 biscuits with a plentiful amount of gravy (which lent to a savory flavor) with 3 over easy eggs on top. Standard spices (not over or under salted or peppered). The food with service and price point sits this diner as a great go-to for family and friends to get together at affordable prices with plenty of delicious comforting food. Its no surprise why this diner continues to stand in the center of Michigan City! Shout out to Melissa who took on unique requests, attentive service and outstanding people skills. Also overheard excellent work place conditions (flexible, communicative, and competitive).

1st time here and all i can say is... I LOVED IT! I had an awkward experience with my child there and without being too graphic she got sick there. Bad moment but i promise they handled it better than I was prepared to handle it. They jumped right on the situation. Were very helpful. Checked on us while i took care of my daughter in the bathroom. Helped us clean everything. Then treated us wonderfully like it never even happened. So I thank them for that. I'm sure it was quite the inconvenience but the certainly didn't make us feel that way at all. Outside of that the food way amazing. The omelette was fluffy and thick and tasted delicious. The portions are great and the price is definitely worth it. They aren't pricey at all surprisingly. Considering all the unique options they have. They are definitely worth another trip or 3 in my eyes.

Title: Disappointing Experience at Sophia's Michigan City Restaurant

Rating: ⭐

I recently visited Sophia's Michigan City Restaurant and decided to try their spinach feta omelet. While the food arrived on time, I was disappointed to find that the omelet had a strange oil-like odor. Despite attempting to eat it, I had to send it back as the smell was quite unpleasant.

Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse when the waitress brought me the bill for the omelet, even though I had returned it to the kitchen. Hoping for some understanding, I spoke to the owner about the situation, expecting a resolution. However, I was met with surprising inflexibility.

The owner claimed in a firm and rather dismissive tone that in the entire ten years of operating, no customer had ever sent back a spinach omelet. To my dismay, he refused to refund the cost of the omelet, indicating that his perspective always overrides that of the customer.

This experience left me disheartened and dissatisfied with Sophia's Michigan City Restaurant. It's disheartening to encounter a place where the customer's opinion is not valued, and the owner's perspective reigns supreme.

While I understand that mistakes can happen in any establishment, it is crucial for a business to handle such situations with empathy and a willingness to rectify them. Unfortunately, this was not the case at Sophia's Michigan City Restaurant.

I hope that the management of Sophia's Michigan City Restaurant reflects on the importance of customer satisfaction and reevaluates their approach when faced with similar incidents...

I've visited the Michigan City location on many occasions, however, my experience Sunday morning on January 14th is the visit that influenced me to end my patronage with this Sophia's. I ordered the two eggs breakfast with turkey sausage, hashbrowns and opted for the pancakes. I requested onions in the hashbrowns and asked that everything be cooked well done. After about 10 minutes my food arrived and seeing that the meat was not done enough, I requested it be put back on the grill. As the waitress walked away with the plate, I began buttering the pancakes only to discover that the butter wouldn't melt because the pancakes were cold. When she returned with the sausage(which looked exactly the same as it did before) I informed the waitress the pancakes were cold and her reply was, "What do you want me to do?" When I repeated, that they were cold, she seemed a bit frustrated and asked, again, "what do you want me to do, you want me to heat them up?" I informed her that I did, and as she took my plate I began to eat the hashbrowns which I discovered were barely warm. At this point, I decided this would be my last time patronizing this restaurant. I ate part of the pancakes and requested a carryout container for everything else. While I did leave a tip, I chose not to respond to the cashier's question of, "How was everything," as there was no point since I will not be a...

My partner and I were excited for our breakfast date and were excited to go to Sofia’s Pancakes. We were seated quickly, received our drinks, and our food arrived looking and tasting great. But the service was incredibly disappointing.

Our waitress—a Hispanic woman with brown hair and highlights—told us she’d be right back with a coffee refill. She never returned. No coffee, no water, no check-in. She completely disappeared. We didn’t see her again until the very end. My partner and I were stunned—this level of neglect is something we’ve never experienced while dining out.

When she finally came back, her only explanation was that she was “too busy.” That’s not acceptable. We’ve been to plenty of breakfast spots that were just as busy, and the staff still delivered respectful, attentive service.

I don’t leave negative reviews lightly, and I always consider how demanding the job can be. But this wasn’t a case of being overwhelmed—it was total disregard. Basic service like a quick check-in or a simple refill should never be overlooked.

If zero stars for service were an option, that’s exactly what we’d give. The food was good, but the service ruined the entire experience.

We won’t be returning. There’s no point in spending $30 just for good food when the service is this poor. I’d rather take my money somewhere that values both the food and the...
