Been coming here for years. The portion sizes seem smaller than they once were, but the food is still decently priced for what you get. This is not the type of place to give you combo meals where it's rice and meat of your choice, every dish comes on a serving plate/bowl and can be divided for 4 people easily. My family typically comes with 3 people and we order maybe 6 dishes and pay around 36 dollars not including tip, but we have enough left overs to take home.
About the taste, it really depends on what you want and if it's something you're into. They have a huge menu of what seems to be 100+ items. They even offer venison and pork kidney meat. Often times my family will order food and look over to other diner's tables and ask them what they're eating so we can try it too. Some things like the pork chops in garlic sauce or the salt and pepper fish are addictive. I would stay away from items like lemon chicken or sweet and sour pork, it's not that it's bad, but there are better items and it's not quite like panda express since it's actually made fresh to order here. Somehow they have the best honey walnut shrimp I've had, and that's not even my favorite item of theirs.
As for the service, it really depends on when you come in. The night crew is kind of straight to the point and tired, and most of the customers coming in at 1am have been drinking, so I'm sure they have had a lot to deal with. The day time servers are friendly and try to bring you plates, chopsticks, napkins, tea, and menus. The staff tries to bring water if you ask for it, same thing with forks and spoons. The only possible problem I've had so far is the language barrier, but being patient and just pointing out the item on the menu...
Read moreI was pleasantly surprised. There food was very flavorful and colorful. I actually enjoyed my Chinese food experience. That a first in the past 10 years. No joke we moved to Milpitas 5 years ago. I tried several different restaurants and was very disappointed but even with 3 stars we decided to give this place a try. To my surprise it was exploding with flavors and it looked delicious very colorful. I want to give 4 stars because I wish they would be a little more generous with the food. It was bearly enough to feed 3 adults. But because it was so good I won't take away a star. Maybe next time they'll be more generous. I also realize that in 2024 everything everywhere has shrunk in size including our bank account. Lol The service was friendly I noticed some reviews say the workers where rude but we didn't have that problem. We ordered hunan spicy hot pot with spare ribs and they actually had real ribs.with the bone melt in your mouth. You dont see that often its usually cut up pork but never the real deal with bone in thats actually very rare. Prawns with veges, house chow mein and sweet and sour chicken. Loved it all comlpiments to the chef. Even if they where rude I would still go back. But they where friendly and...
Read moreMy family and I have eaten at China Palace for a long time. We moved away but this is the place my family always go to when we are in town. We noticed the female owner wasn’t behind the counter today but an older male was there. We went in and the man was on the phone so we moved two tables together to accommodate the party of six. Instead of greeting us, the man is screaming at us in mandarin. I replied in English because I don’t speak mandarin. Then, he screamed at my family in English that this is not our house and he is the owner of the restaurant. Told us to move to another table and threw the menus on the table. He was still screaming. We got up and I told my family that this man doesn’t deserve my money so we left. He should be more grateful to his customers because the restaurant was nearly emptied and badly in need of customers. We will never go back to this place again. ...
