There are so many boba shops around now, but this was one of the originals. I associate Fantasia with their almond milk tea because it was one of the first drinks I ever got from there, and it tastes so much like Capri-Sun to me lol.
My cousin and I stopped by for boba for dessert after getting dinner at the dry pot restaurant nearby in the same plaza. I'm surprised at how expensive boba has gotten lately. I got a basic Jasmine milk tea with boba. I don't know what the rush is here though because they try to finish making the boba as soon as you're done ordering. It seems like they were in a constant hurry despite they're not being many people in the store. My boba tasted fine; it's hard to mess up a Jasmine milk tea.
My cousin and I sat down to chat while drinking our boba. Before leaving, I went up again to order a fruit tea for my mom and I asked for clarification about its ingredients since certain fruits cause complications with her medicine, and they were being extremely rude about it. Chill, I just asked what's in your drink lol.
Not sure if I'd come back...
Read moreLocated in the Lion supermarket mall, the ambiance at Fantasia - which is also a chain - is very calming and modern. That is until they turn on the blender. At that point you can forget about any conversation you were having.
As others have mentioned, they do a mean tapioca pearl tea drink: affordable, tasty with er, pleasantly soft balls. Coffee-wise, you might want to try somewhere else. My husband the coffee snob was doubtful about ordering a mocha here. Noticing the machine which grinds up the whole coffee beans, I asked what kind of beans they had in their machine. Without batting an eyelid, the young man replied: "Coffee beans."
Not taking this as a red flag, spouse ordered a mocha which came out hot and did the trick, but had a strange aftertaste to it. Peet's this is not.
HOWEVER. they do offer free wi-fi and if you wear ear plugs, you won't mind the blender noise. CASH ONLY (which also happened to be their...

How can I make that claim? Well, it's simple. They've had the same guy making drinks for like 10 years. He always gets it done quick, he understands their shorthand order call outs in Chinese, and he gets it right. Boba places normally have high turnover, but this guy has stuck it through and through with this place.
Now that they finally have a large cup size after like 8 years of a medium standard size, it's pretty much perfect.
I always get the lychee jasmine tea, no milk, no sugar, 50% ice, large cup. The lychee is sweet enough as is and it's sweet acidity clears your palate of any fatty residual flavors after a heavy meal.
You come in, you order, the drink is done in 30 seconds, you're already sitting and sipping, wondering how the heck other boba places in the Bay (except TP Tea) can't get things right...
