Oh, where do I even begin? I’ve been to many places, but this experience was truly one for the ages. Picture this: it’s 6pm, and I thought, “Hey, I’ll grab a quick bite before this place turns into a party zone.” Seems reasonable, right? Well, clearly I was asking for too much.
Upon entry, there’s a charming sign instructing us to “seat ourselves.” Cool, I thought, that’s casual. We found a booth—well, more like a crime scene. Leftover food, mysterious drink spills—this table had it all. But hey, at least it was available, right? We scanned the QR code menu (because paper menus are so last century), picked out our food, and then…waited. And waited. And waited some more.
After what felt like an eternity of being actively ignored by a server leaning against the kitchen doorway like she was too cool to serve, we figured she must be on break or perhaps just emotionally distant. No big deal. So off we went to the bar to inquire if table service still existed in this establishment. The bartender, bless her heart, assured us that someone would be with us. Enter: Miss Enthusiasm herself, the server we had lovingly been watching from afar. She sauntered over to take our order, exuding the enthusiasm of a cat that’s just been told it’s going to the vet.
Now, here’s where things got really magical. We politely asked if the table could be cleaned. Her response? “I’ll grab you a rag.” A rag. For us to clean the table. At this point, I had to laugh. Who knew that dining out would come with a side of DIY housekeeping? Not wanting to miss out on the full “interactive dining experience,” I gladly took the rag and spray bottle she graciously provided and cleaned the table myself. Talk about five-star service.
The food finally arrived—sans silverware or napkins, of course. I mean, who needs those fancy luxuries? After we scavenged for utensils, we ate, waited for our check, and, surprise, our server disappeared into the night like a mythical creature never to be seen again. After a casual 30-minute digesting session, we had to physically get up, track her down, and request the honor of paying for this memorable evening. Her response? An Oscar-worthy eye roll, because obviously we were the ones inconveniencing her.
If you enjoy cleaning your own table, begging for napkins, and chasing down your server like you’re part of a restaurant-themed scavenger hunt, this is your place! Otherwise, well… lower those...
Read moreLast night was my first night at Sally’s Saloon and will also be my last night there, (April 28, 2017). I have never been treated so poorly by an employee in customer service in my entire life. I had been waiting at the bar to get my first drink that night for a while since it was relatively crowded in the space. The female brown-haired bartender had previously been helping a group of several basketball players from the University of Minnesota who were standing behind me at the time. She was continuing to flirt with them after they had all order multiple drinks. I politely asked if I could get a drink, then she snapped at me claiming she was still with other customers. She finally asked me what I wanted, still acting impolite towards me. I understand that she probably had to deal with many intoxicated people that night, but I thought it was very inappropriate to take her stress out on me. I noticed that she had given the basketball players two drinks at a time without them specifically asking for two, so I was curious if Sally’s had a two-for-one special going on that night. When she only handed me one drink, I simply asked if there was a two-for-one deal going on. She immediately started yelling at me accusing me of being impatient and that I need to calm down. I was so shocked by her reaction that I asked people around me if they thought I was being rude in any way. They all agreed that I had done nothing to cause the bartender to act the way that she did. The entire time I was at the bar I was treated with nothing but disrespect by this bartender, and so I chose to immediately go to a different bar with my group of friends that we all agreed had much better customer service. Once again, I understand that being a bartender at a busy bar near a college campus can be stressful work, however, a bartender should know of this stress and not let it effect their customer service so severely as I had experienced...
Read moreDO NOT BOTHER! First attempt here we read sign that said don't move tables for large groups. Server told us to sit on side of bar where there were longer tables. Fifteen minutes later we were told section closed. Smelled strong of bleach & sour odor. Young girl in bathroom throwing up & puke all over floor. Husband stated he seen her on floor as he came out of men's bathroom. We checked on her but friends were sitting on counter & said they were wirh her. Came back a few hours later , it was less busy. We grabbed a booth and the table had dried sauce & crumbs on it. Nobody wiped it and we had no service so we went to bar to order drinks. Ordered shots & had to tell bar tender how to make. Asked for another round and table waitress was irrited she had to look up what drink was. Never came back to ask if we wanted more drinks. Finally asked for our bill, she seemed irrited whole night. We asked if she was happy, she stated "yes" but said she didn't act like it and was told her tip would reflect that. She then had a manager & other guy come out as we were paying bill & leaving and told us we had to leave. He argued with us even about the first time we were there. Also stated they were short handed and she was having a "bad day" I stated it's not our fault as patrons this was happening. Said she was mad & we were cutting her short by going to bar to order drinks or tell bartender how to make shots. Told him she rarely came to ask ifvwe wanted anything else. Bathrooms were NASTY, one didn't have a seat, other had broken tank and 3rd still had puke in floor & stuff all over walls. Plus you came out of womens bathroom and could see men at urinals. Place seemed overly dirty. People followed us out and stated their service was very poor too. It was not that busy...
