Today my family and I went out to lunch at this establishment, which used to be a favorite. I stress "USED to be." It all started with the male server, who had far more attitude than he had personality. We all ordered, but nearly half an hour later none of our soups, salads, or appetizers had materialized. (A different server had to refill our drinks.) During this time we watched as parties seated after us were now enjoying their entrees. Our starters finally arrived after we asked the female server what was going on and suddenly everything started coming out at once. We barely had a chance to begin eating our soup before our entrees were arriving, but we soldiered on. Then it got worse. The tofu in everyone's dishes was terribly prepared (my mother-in-law even had to send hers back and order something different) and my wife and I both discovered chicken in our veggie tom-ka soup...a nasty surprise for a family of vegans! This is the 3rd time in the last 6 months that we have ordered vegan dishes that we ended up finding animal products in anyway, so this was the last straw. Afterward we were all very ill with digestive distress, likely due to the intake of animal products none of us are used to consuming. We pointed all of this out but were offered no discount, no way to make up for this disaster, and were still charged the full price of nearly $60 for our trouble. While we appreciate the fact that the female server was very polite and obviously trying to minimize the impact of all of this, the experience was so distressing that we will not be back, even after being loyal...
Read moreTheir Tom Kha soup used to be, by far, the best in town! At work, when anyone was sick, the whole department would order Tom Kha. It was magical! But the past few times I've gotten it, the quality has changed and you never know what your going to get. It is now way too sweet , no matter how spicy you get it, it's still sweet. It used to have a nice balance of spice but now, if you ask for it spicy, it is too darned hot. If you ask for medium spice, it is barely spicy. I think they must have a new cook who thinks that if they put sugar in everything, it will taste good. That could not be further from the truth. We go there because we like the authentic (not Americanized sweet version) of the Thai food. They have lost their Thainess! And if what a customer said on another review, that a former server told her that they don't throw out food left on people's plate, but instead, reuse it and serve to other customers, this definitely warrants an inspection from the health department. My suggestion to them would be the following: -Throw leftover food the hell away and trust that karma will make it up to you. It's already paid for by the customer so why risk giving it to someone else. That's just plain and simple greed!
-STOP putting damn sugar in the food! WE WANT IT AS CLEAN AND AUTHENTIC AS POSSIBLE!
-If your previous cook is still alive, tap his/her brain for the recipes, write them down and stick to them. No more 'by guess...
Read moreI have been eating at Bangkok Thai in Daphne for years. Today was the worst dinning experience I have ever had there. The waitress was a complete mess. Slow, disorganized totally unconcerned for the customers. It took 20 minutes to get our water. The kitchen brought out our appetizers and had no idea about condiments. When I asked the waitress, she brought me an empty bottle of sriracha and some pepper flakes. After we got our meal, we didn’t see her again until she brought the check. She shouldn’t be in the service business. After paying and finally getting bags to carry our left overs, we exited the business to be engulfed in the smell of sewer as a pump truck was pumping their septic tank right in front of the restaurant. I was amazed at the stink and lack of concern for the diners experience. It took a while to get the smell out of our car after we left.
I have always thought of this restaurant as one of my favorites. After today, I am saddened that I can not go here until they explain to me how this could happen or how it won’t happen again....
