We had rode over to Mobile to see Cooper Alan at the Soul Kitchen, and wanted to dine somewhere within walking distance, so after a stroll a couple of blocks each we way, we decided on Debris, and it was the perfect choice. When we walked up, there were folks eating out front, and when we went in, it was it neat long pub type place, with a great ambiance, well stocked bar, and as it would turn out, even better food and service. I had the Dagwood Po-Boy and Delores had the Meatball Po-Boy, while I ordered a side of cheese grits, and she ordered a side of greens. The Dagwood consisted of Turkey, Pork, and Beef, with some typical dressings on an untypical bread, as the bread looked like Nawlins Style French Bread, was was a much softer bread, without being chewy. My Cheese Grits were delicious, and Her Greens were just sweet and spicy enough to really stand out. as good as all of that was, the real star of the evenings meal was the White Chocolate Bread Pudding with a Jack Daniels Sauce poured over it, it was so good we had to order some to bring home with us. This is definitely a Po-Boy shop that we will be dining at again, and if you find yourself in or near downtown Mobile, Alabama, then I'd highly suggest you make over to Dauphin St. and give...
Read moreFirst time here .. I read reviews about the restaurant and decided we needed to try it. So last night before going to a concert at the Saeger theater we decided to pay a visit to this restaurant and I'm very glad that we did. My husband and I paid for parking in the $10 lot but it was not too far of a walk from there and went into the restaurant sat ourselves and was immediately greeted by probably one of the nicest servers I've met in years. He was knowledgeable about everything. I picked his brain about my drink andthe food ..how the coleslaw was made so on and he was very direct about all of his answers and when he did not know the answer he got somebody that had the information . The atmosphere is very comforting it has good background music. the servers/ bartenders are dressed casually in jeans and t-shirts but let me just say I can't say enough good about the food...it was absolutely phenomenal. My husband had the pulled pork Po boy and some au jus.I had the crab sauce pistolette and the tangy coleslaw. The food came out piping hot which is the way my husband and I prefer. I do not have one bad word to say about this restaurant it is awesome!! I'm sad that I waited so long to try it we will be back it comes highly...
Read moreWe decided to pop into Debris for a late lunch on a Saturday. We had a bowl with cheese grits and blackened shrimp. A BBQ shrimp pistolette. And a large gumbo. I don't usually write unfavorable reviews. However, I feel like it's fair to give other diners a heads up.
The grits and collard greens in the bowl were ok. But the blackened shrimp was salty with really no other flavor.
The pistolette was supposed to have BBQ shrimp. There was zero flavor. I am not sure if there was supposed to be a sauce that was missing. But the shrimp didn't even have a shrimp flavor. It was quite disappointing. We doused it with hot sauce but then it tasted just of hot sauce.
The gumbo was ok. The portion was about 8 ounces for the large, which was disappointing. We had planned to share the pistolette and gumbo between two diners.
The service was average. They were nice enough. They didn't offer any drink refills until we were paying our bill.
The atmosphere was nice enough. It was clean. ...
