Moe's Original BBQ — Restaurant in Mobile

Visited Moe’s BBQ on April 11,2024 for lunch after being in the area and getting the recommendation to eat at this establishment. I ordered the pulled pork meal with cornbread, baked beans, and potato salad with a dessert of banana pudding, my wife got the same meal but got Mac and cheese instead of the potato salad.

For my meal the pork was heavenly and cooked to perfection, the baked beans I mean were the star of the dish and when I mean those beans were 🔥 they were absolutely amazing with pieces of either turkey or pork in it. The potato salad was pretty good and I tried some of my wife’s Mac and cheese and we both agreed we have had better, they definitely were homemade but it was bland and didn’t have much flavor. The bbq sauce was pretty good you can definitely tell it’s heavy on the mustard but I’d give it a 7/10. The banana pudding was definitely not good, I love me some banana pudding and I was very excited to get their homemade banana pudding but when I took my first bite it was a disappointment all the way to the end, it was bland and I felt as if it had sat in the fridge for 3 days it just didn’t taste right to me but other then the banana pudding and the Mac and cheese everything was spot on and have to give this place a 4/5 stars. The service was pretty quick and friendly with Alabama hospitality really showing thank you for the good meal. The price, the only thing I have an issue with for price is nearly $4 for a cup of soda should of just gotten a beer if I didn’t have to drive for that price but hey it is what it is I’ll have to stop by again and try the next time as I have gotten recommendations to try that for...

Ordered the pork sandwich meal, they said they didn't have fries, they only had fried chips. After the young lady dropped my plate on the table and walked away, I noticed the "fried chips" were like they just took some kettle chips out of a bag, and put it on a plate. The baked beans were good, but had macaroni bits in it as if it falls off the spoon into the beans and they just leave it.. The sandwich was wrapped in paper like McDonald's, and the bun was flattened by moisture like it was on a conveyor belt under a lamp. Took a bite, and noticed a strong taste of mustard. I hate mustard.. Whent to the bar to ask the young lady if they put mustard on their sandwiches, after I got her attention, and asked, she said they don't, then it dawns on me, I say, Oh ok, it must be the mustard seed flavoring some bbq sauses have, and before I could finish my sentence she turns back to her friend on the other side of the bar and continues their conversation.. Lol. I couldn't stomach the sandwich, didn't want the potato chips, so basically I paid over 10 bucks for two table spoons of baked beans, and a sweet tea. Ill know next time I walk in a place that tells you they can't keep a bag of crinkle cut fries in the freezer to turn and run. Far and fast. We stopped here before heading back to Jackson, MS, for lunch. We got takeout since we were trying to head back, but when I tell you that I wish I would've gotten 2 plates, I really WISH I would've gotten 2 plates! If I had known that their food was this good before I went, I would've come our day in town. We haven't been able to actually buy good BBQ. We found this restaurant by just riding around downtown. They just so happened to be one of very few restaurants that was open on Labor Day. If I'm really being honest, I'm glad everyone else was closed. It made it easier to find them. Oh yeah, in the picture, it was so good that I almost forgot to take a picture. Everything tasted great! And yes, I do mean everything. The sides are generously portioned as well. My husband had potato salad, and I normally don't eat restaurant potato salad because it's kinda bland to me, but not theirs! Theirs was good! The sauce is delicious!
