Reservations were easy, used their web site. The boat is parked / boards directly behind the convention center. Parking is in the garage below the convention center, and easy to park close to the boarding area. It was rainy, so you had to pick your way around the puddles to get to the boarding gate, Bring your own umbrella if it is raining. We selected the VIP area, which is upstairs.. Due to rain, they had the plastic covers down to keep patrons dry. There is a band on that level in front, with a sign (Private) separating the dance floor and the dining area. Initially, the band was playing pre-recorded music, and once we were underway, they began playing 60s and 70 hits. One wait staff, she was great. she was working hard to take care of ~20 patrons. Dinner is a Pre-Fix, small dinner salad, chicken, green beans, and a rice ball. Desert was a slice of cake. Truth in lending, it is a boat.. so dinner wasn't the star of the show. Temperature wise, everything was tepid. (not hot) Initially, when the band started playing, it was louder than they pre-recorded music was.. after a couple songs, they turned up the volume.. (I think bands feel louder = more fun).. at this point it was getting difficult to have conversation.. There were 3-4 couples dancing. Then, they switched to more current day music. and turned up the volume again.. a couple folks told the waitstaff that it was too loud, we watched her relay it to the band, and they ignored. We asked to have it turned down a bit, no luck. As a result, about half of the patrons decided to leave the area and go outside to the front of the boat. A small group did a line dance to the current day music, then retuned to their seats. A few folks from the downstairs (enclosed) area, came up to check out the band, stuck their head in, and then left. back downstair or stayed outside.
I gave it 3 stars; good effort,...
Read moreThis was our first dinner theater cruise in several years and we greatly enjoyed it. I thought the program was really well done. I liked the fluidity of the actors and the story line. We had well-presented chicken, shrimp, veggies, and bread pudding, served with your choice of drinks. Sadly the cruise didn’t have a full load, as I think people would have a lot of fun on the Perdido Queen. Our waiter, Ryan, was running all over the deck working his diners. We think he did a stupendous job taking care of us, and all with a friendly smile, politeness, and professionalism. No problems, errors, cold food, or watered down drinks happened. The amount of food was filling for my party of 3. After I’d received my Glenlivet, I saw I had missed mojitos on the menu. I like them so ordered one as I got empty with the scotch. I’ve been looking for the last 4 yrs for the right mojito. The bartender (I had his name on a scrap but lost/dropped it) made 3 of the best ones I’ve had in years, reminding me of my Key West, Cozumel, and Cartagena visits. The actors are people who really seem to enjoy the side acting gigs for the show. Beware, audience participation is a must in these types of events, so be prepared to “volunteer” to help. Some customers got tagged to play roles, including me. Regardless, you can have a great time with it if you let it be fun and dive in. They feed off your enthusiasm and adlib participation. I believe the pricing was pretty much what it took to have this event. There was plenty of staff to work the customers well. Parking was perfect - just off their berth - and ADA access was solid. The PQ took off into the bay and gave a great water-side view of the ALABAMA. We plan to come again and help solve their next one in August. I highly recommend going on their cruises. A great job was done by all. So go, relax, splurge, participate, and have a ball...
Read moreThis was by far the worst experience we had on the Perdido Queen!!!! We went last year and had a great experience but after our experience this year we will definitely not be going back!!!!! There were only 2 servers for the entire VIP section. We were not served our first drink until 10:28pm. Some passengers had finished their meals before we ever received our first drink. My daughter ordered a bottle of champagne when we first boarded the boat and she did not receive it until 10:48. I am typically not a person that leaves negative post but to pay $129 per person for this cruise and the service to be this poor is beyond ridiculous! There were 6 of us with our party. When I asked to see a manager so we could at least get our drinks that never happened. Two of our party went downstairs to order our drinks after we had still not been asked for our order at 9:30. They let them place the order but would not let them get our drinks. It was almost an hour before we received them. I understand it is hard to find help in these times but if there is not enough staff to handle the capacity of the boat you should have lowered capacity for New Years Eve! I can’t tell you how many times the servers came upstairs empty handed and anyone in the service industry knows that’s just not how you take care of customers. The sad part is 4 of our group were only ordering beers! How long could it possibly take to pop the top off a beer. Good luck in the future but our group will definitely...
