First of all, this is not fine dining. I asked Google to direct me to fine dining establishments in downtown Mobile and I was directed here. These people ought to be ashamed of themselves for calling this place fine dining. If you look, you will see pictures of steak and other things that are not on their menu. If you look at the pictures, the environment is also not true. That particular part of the restaurant (I guess) is for the continental breakfast and so it is shut down and I don't have access to it. There's nothing fine about this establishment except that it's in a nice hotel. They just have regular flatbreads and sandwiches. I literally could have eaten anywhere else downtown and not had to pay for parking so I'm a little peeved about that.
Now that we've gotten that out the way, I have to wait to be seated. The greeter was nowhere to be found. She had to come from out of the back and I could barely understand her English. I'm African American myself so I'm all for people being given an opportunity, but be on the ready. I bet if I tried to walk out without paying, they would catch me quicker.
After finally being sat down, another international child from somewhere in Africa was not very kind. She literally seemed irritated that she had to come out and get my order. I told her what I wanted and she just took the menu out of my hand and walked away. I wear invisaligns so I needed to take them out of my mouth and put them in a napkin before I eat. Since I only had the one napkin under my cup, I used it to wrap up my Invisaligns. When she got back with my hot tea, she asked me where the napkin went. I told her I had to use it but I could use more. She went to the bar, grab the stack of them and then told me - and this is an exact quote: "you don't need to touch this napkin because that's how they know I served this table" and she walked away again. She was genuinely perturbed by me!
I am genuinely sick and tired of having to deal with the misguided anger of people who choose to work and the service establishment. I tip every time - even when I get poor customer service - so I expect better. I'm already at a place that's not fine dining, had to pay the park and now I'm having to deal with missing greeters and rude servers. Needless to say, I won't be back. There's far too many restaurants in downtown Mobile that would appreciate my money and patronage. $30 for the meal. $6 in tips. $3 in taxes and $8 to park for 1 hour and I am out of $50 to eat flatbread! I could have gone to a multitude of fine dining establishment right here in Mobile with that same $50 and had a phenomenal meal. I even tried to go to the front desk in the lobby and I asked them to credit me for the parking seeing as I was misled into coming to this place in the first place and everybody said it was above their pay grade. I came here maybe two weeks prior to do an in person mock jury and they gave us these little cards that allowed us to park for free so I know the hotel has them, but the people who work there don't know anything about them? I'm so...
Read moreI completely understand this time of the year every restaurant is busy. Tonight appeared to be slower than normal. We arrived 15 minutes prior to the party we were meeting. We were seated fairly quickly. The hostess left us four menus as there was a party of four. Within a couple of minutes the host came back around and collected two of the four menus. When the other party arrived to join us. They finally returned the other menus. After approximately a 30 minute wait because we weren’t buying drinks the waitress came back around to take our food order. To receive our food was roughly 45 minutes again does appear to be a fairly slow night. Two of the meals arrived at the same time the third meal arrived approximately five minutes later and after 40 minutes of waiting, I finally told them to just cancel my order as everybody else has already finished eating. The manager came over and apologized and said she would remove the meal from my bill. But told me to go ahead and take the meal home with me. When the server came back with my bill. The meal was is still on it. I told her I wasn’t gonna pay for the meal. She looked at me and proceeded to say fine and snatched the to go box off the table in front of me and walked away. So I’m not sure who’s running the restaurant the manager or the server. But regardless, I would give service a extremely poor rating. As the manager needs to determine who’s actually in charge. As far as the flavor of the meals. The other parties with us said it was mediocre for the price point. There are too many good restaurants in downtown Mobile to ever go back to a restaurant like this with poor service and mediocre food at a...
Read moreI actually made reservations for dinner on Father's Day for my husband and I. The service was great. The manager was great as well and knew exactly who I was by my voice over the phone 3 days prior, and he knew my name. He greeted us anseated us when we arrived and bid us fairly well on our way to exit. Most of all, the young lady by the nane of Mica who waited on our table was superb. My mocktail was delicious, shouting to the lady tending the bar. Service was swift and friendly. We didn't wait long on our appetizers or entrées. Nice vibe, dem lighting, jazz music playing & most of all comfortable seating. I wish there was more to the menu. I love to do reviews but not just the bad experiences but also the good...
