Our team at work went to The Haberdasher for drinks and some food. I had never been to The Haberdasher but I’ve heard it was good. Since I’m not much drinker I was there solely for the food. Our team a bunch of appetizers and I tried to try them all. There also was first thing that I tried was the French fries. I enjoyed them. They came with a mayo sauce. Not a big mayo on fries fan but it worked. I then tried the Brussels sprouts. Not sure what they were seasoned with but they tasted pretty good. Next was the chicken tenders. I dipped them in what seemed like a chili sauce. It had a lot of spice but it tasted good. The mahi mahi slider was next. It was my favorite appetizer. It was cooked to perfection and the sauce on the slider was very tasty. After that was the fish part of the fish and chips. I think the fish was cod. I was impressed by it. It wasn’t better than the mahi mahi but it was good. The last thing I tried were the avocado fries. I really like them. To be honest if I wasn’t full from the other food I would’ve eaten more of the...
Read moreI wish I could comment on the quality of the food but their system and (regular) customers ruin the experience. You have to order at a bar in the rear, that’s fine. I stood in line about 20 minutes and only had 2 other in front of me. After about 20 min the guy in front of me is ready to order. He is approached by others that were not in line and not with him, you could tell by their conversation. He and the staff allow them all to order ignoring all the others who had been waiting 15-20 minutes to place their orders. It looked like it might be an ok place if you don’t mind being around a bunch of loud drunk people at dinner. The food looked good and I at first was hoping it would seem family friendly to come back but it doesn’t appear to be so my review is based on my experience but not the food. I then even tried to call in an order to be able to possibly review the food too but that doesn’t seem possible so I will try other local spots that...
Read moreA friend and I were in Mobile for a concert and chose this establishment as our starting point for dinner and a drink or two.
It seems to be well known for being a place to have 'fancy' drinks made and was quite busy for a Monday night. Being a bit more of a Guinness drinker the 'fancy' drinks are not quite my style.
It is a bit on the darkside in its visual ambience. Almost a mix of a forest within a cave. Lots of wood, rustic, but it has a feeling of a hundred year old pub.
The bar and the food are separate in the sense that you order and pay for them separately. There were no servers when we were there and that might very well be the norm. You have to retrieve your food from the same window you order food from. This is certainly not a dealbreaker for me, but might be a turn-off for some.
All and all our experience was excellent and we will be returning.
