We visited June 5th, 2022, the first Sunday of each month is free. Normally, your paid admission to The Mobile History Museum includes a tour of Fort Conde. Very cool exhibition, fyi Fort Conde is a reproduction of the original Fort Conde, and that includes lower entrances and doorways because historically, people of the past were much shorter because they did not have the good nutrition, healthcare, and immunizations we have now. My husband is 6’2, seeing him stand next to the doorways was pretty funny. He really enjoyed the exhibits that included swords, guns, cannons, cannonballs, shackles, etc. A good place to take a guy, they love all the old military exhibits. My only complaint was that the building is a little hot in some places, you will feel bits of air conditioning here and there, maybe it is that way because of the way the building is constructed, and air conditioning was not around in the old days. But still fun, I saw people with their children, you can take kids here, the exhibits are well contained that you don’t have to worry about kids breaking anything. One of the kids was yelling inside the brick short doorway because he liked the echo, but I thought it was funny. This place was very informative, it helps seeing this so I can learn about Mobile now that...
Read moreMost of the time Welcome Centers are little more than a caboose or a small building welcoming you to the city. But that is not the case with Mobile's Wecome Center. It is located on the sight of the orginal Ft. Conde. While the fort is not completely rebuilt due to space one does get the feel of what the fort was like. Interestingly it is located right above the Wallace Tunnel where I-10 goes under the Mobile River. It has exhibits and a small gift shop to go with the Fort. It is a FREE attraction to the city. When going make sure you leave enough time to city the City of Mobile Museum next store and the Conde-Charlotte House just around the corner. Mobile is a Wonderful, Historic City...it along with it's sister cities of Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA, make a trio of old deep south southern ports worth...
Read moreRIP OFF!! Do yourself a favor and save the price of admission... spend it on anything else!! I mean, ANYTHING ELSE! This used to be a free exhibit a few months ago. There's a new owner who added a dinky shooting gallery that doesn't even work very well. There's a "photo booth" where you can put on dirty costumes and take pictures, and an "escape room" with a door that doesn't even close. There's a hideous noise in the fort area that makes it hard to concentrate when reading exhibits. One exhibit has a light that doesn't work, so you can't see anything. So basically, we paid $25 to play an arcade shooting...
