From the moment I first contacted Royal Scam to make changes to my reservation, I was impressed by the outstanding customer service. I needed to add two more seats for a business dinner, bringing our total to ten people. Despite the restaurant being fully booked at the time I called, an hour later, I received a call from the manager informing me they had managed to accommodate my request. This level of attentiveness and flexibility was the first indication of the exceptional experience that awaited us.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were pleased to find it situated in a great location, easily accessible and offering a welcoming ambience perfect setting for both business and casual dining.
The menu at Royal Scam is concise, but every dish is executed to perfection. From appetizers to desserts, each item we tried was fantastic. The flavors were well-balanced, and the ingredients were fresh and of high quality. Our customers were particularly happy with their meals, which is always a good sign during business dinners.
Our waiter did an exceptional job managing our table of ten. She was attentive, professional, and efficient, ensuring that our orders were taken promptly and that our needs were met throughout the evening. The food arrived quickly and was presented beautifully, adding to the overall dining experience.
One standout moment was when we decided to return the following night for dessert after having some drinks elsewhere. We arrived after the kitchen had closed, but the manager recognized us and graciously reopened the kitchen and bar just to serve us. This level of dedication to customer satisfaction is rare and deeply appreciated. Their bread pudding, in particular, is one of the best I have ever tasted, making the extra effort even more memorable.
Overall, Royal Scam exceeded our expectations in every way. The combination of excellent customer service, delicious food, and a pleasant atmosphere makes it a top choice for dining in the area. We will definitely be recommending this restaurant to others and look forward to visiting again. Special thanks to April, Delia, and Brittany for their outstanding...
Read moreWe found the The Royal Scam on a Google Map search looking for a popular place within walking distance to the Battle House Renaissance Hotel & Spa to have an early dinner (~3:30 p.m.). We viewed their menu online and saw some options we'd like so we decided to give a try. SO GLAD WE DID! It was just down the street from the hotel entrance (maybe quarter of a mile). As soon as we entered, we observed there were already a few other early birds seated. Robert, who turned out to be our server, was taking an order from a table by the front door. He immediately turned around towards us, greeted us, and advised we could sit anywhere we wanted to. We opted for a corner table at the far end of the restaurant. Robert was at our table shortly after to take our order. After delivering our drinks, he asked to take our food order. We asked if he had any recommendations and he went down the list of food categories (appetizers, lighter side, entrees, etc...) offering his picks. His choice for sandwiches was their Steak Sandwich indicating it was a local favorite. We ended up ordering a cup of Seafood Gumbo (to share) as an appetizer, Crab Cakes (for Kathi) and Steak Sandwich (for me). Robert asked what two sides I'd like with the sandwich and I opted for the Asian Slaw and the French Fries. Everything we ordered was AMAZING!!! The Seafood Gumbo was (quite possibly) the best we've ever had. The Crab Cakes and sauce were very flavorful, and a perfect size to satisfy Kathi's hunger. The Steak Sandwich with horseradish sauce was delicious! The Asian Slaw and French Fries were also very flavorful and I left nothing in my plate. We opted for a piece of Bread Pudding for dessert and, once again, were blown away by the taste. INCREDIBLE BREAD PUDDING! Our experience here was all wrapped up by Robert's sincere hospitality, honesty, and prompt service. The Royal Scam is now on our "definite visit" list when in Mobile. We may even try to get there again today before we...
Read moreI booked confirmed reservations for 6 people on Oct 11 online for Fri, Dec 16 at 5:45 pm. I called 2 weeks later & spoke with a man to increase our party to 8 in the main diningroom & received an online confirmation which I still have.
On Tuesday, Dec 13, I discovered there was a parade on the evening of our dinner so I called to check on our res and was told they did not have it?? The only res I could now get was at 5 pm for 6 (We had 1 couple cancel) people.
When we arrived at the restaurant, they sat us in the outside courtyard which was not acceptable. The hostess was a bit rude when I arrived insinuating that I if I didn't have the previous reservations. I was not in the mood to argue as my guests were beginning to arrive.
When we left after dining, there were 2 6-top tables empty plus numerous empty tables in the main dining room?
Be careful of online res apps. This is my 3rd experience in 2 months with reservation discrepancies in different high-end establishments. We dine out frequently and were very disappointed in our treatment.
Also, the 2 gentleman that ordered $42 filets received them overcooked?? Hmmm...
We have dined many times at The Royal Scam in the past before covid. This was not a good experience and we will hesitate to hurry back. Also, they have changed their menu slightly and raised their prices...
