I just had one of the best meals I have ever eaten. Tuna Poke Power Bowl. Contains (copied from the menu): Diced tuna, soy sesame sriracha dressing, over lentils, quinoa, kale, charred cauliflower, sweet potato, cucumber, craisins, crunchy gyoza. All for just $13. I was seeking something healthy and this looked really good on paper. Frankly, I wasn't expecting it to taste exceptionally good because, well... lentils and quinoa and kale are usually great for healthy meals but not all that for scintillating taste. I was entirely surprised! This tasted remarkable. There was nothing dry. The tuna was cooked perfectly (kind of like barely-cooked sushi) and tasted nothing like tuna fish from a can. There was plenty in the dish, too. The cauliflower, I found myself searching for because it was so good. The sweet potato and craisins added a hint of sweetness. And possibly my favorite part was barely noticed crunch from the gyoza (which I have no idea what this is). I was there during Mardi Gras, so I sat at the bar with a co-worker. They STILL charged only $13, while many other places in the area jacked up their prices due to the amount of people there for the festivities. The person who served us epitomizes customer service. Clearly she was very busy, but she managed to squeeze in conversation with us and people next to us. And more importantly, she went above and beyond when she helped my co-worker with an issue he had with a bottle of wine he purchased. She didn't have to help. It was not her responsibility. But she just did, and for that, alone, this place is a must visit for anyone visiting downtown Mobile, AL. Great food. (The best!) Great service. Friendly people. Highly recommend Squid Ink. (My perspective: I travel frequently for work and I always try different places, often recommended, sometimes not. My tastes are more practical in that I generally prefer food that just tastes good and find over-priced dishes to rarely be worth the cost.)

Squid Ink is awesome! My date and I were driving home from Orange Beach and decided to look for a good place to eat in Mobile, and I am SO glad that I decided on this restaurant! Mention “eclectic” or “unique” in any form or fashion, and I am there for it. Squid Ink did not disappoint. This restaurant is a hole in the wall restaurant with tables inside and out, and a bar on the first floor. We went for an early lunch and the house was already packed, including a 20 minute wait time. We decided to visit the book store across the street and were excited when the hostess called us back after only 10 minutes. We got lucky enough to have the brunch menu still available alongside the lunch menu. My date and I decided to share the brunch chicken and beignets with the lunch hot chicken sandwich. The chicken and beignets were delicious and so was the hot chicken sandwich! On a spiciness scale: I like spicier food but my date is a little sensitive…I thought it was the perfect heat (maybe could’ve even been a touch hotter) and my date said it was a little on the more spicy side to her, buuuut she sure did eat every last bite of her half of the sandwich. The atmosphere is fun, the inside is decorated in an eclectic style to peak the diners’ interest, the waitstaff was quirky and friendly, and overall a place that I raved about to anyone I talked to after our trip. Unfortunately, we scarfed down our food before I thought to take a picture. Photo is one of the many good quotes in the hall near the (clean) bathrooms. I highly recommend Squid Ink.

I do want to start with a positive that the Tuna nachos were delicious, but I don’t think I’d necessarily call it a nacho. That said, I was looking to have a lighter meal, and I was thrilled to see Bahn Mi on the menu. I had ordered the chicken Bahn Mi, and it was so small. For 3 dollars more I could have gotten a much bigger portion and value with a burger. If you’re gonna substitute the traditional baguette style bread for a Bahn mi but still charge the same price for the small bao that’s a bad deal. It shouldn’t be in the entree menu it’s a starter (serve 3 together ditch the fries and you have a best seller.) 3 for $10 is way more appealing than 1 for $8 with just OK fries. bad deal for its size. Also, my server though very sweet, did not do a good job of recommending any favorites or must haves. When I ordered the Bahn Mi I wanted the dinner size (It was dinner time after all; no clarity from her. ) After I ate my Bahn Mi, I told her I was disappointed I didn’t get the dinner order; she brought me the fries I should have had the first time and charged me an extra dollar (should have been redone in POS system as dinner with the Fries.) To top it off, a Lemonade was $4. Ok. But to charge for a lemonade refill? If this place is gonna charge for refills they need to make that more known, as well as the new credit card fee. I would have gladly paid cash had I been told. Overall I’d still bring people here but my time was disappointing. Locals would know how to navigate the menu better. Portions vs Pricing is a problem for the menu. My bill with tip was $35 for the nachos, single Bao Bahn mi, fries (overcharged $1) and 2 lemonades.

**A Delightful Culinary Experience at Squid Ink Electric Eats** Nestled in the heart of Mobile, Alabama, Squid Ink Electric Eats is a gem that truly stands out. My recent visit to this quaint little restaurant was nothing short of exceptional, offering both a delightful atmosphere and a flavor-packed menu. I opted for the Power Salad Bowl with chicken, while my wife chose the Chicken Banh Bi Salad, expertly swapping the chicken for shrimp. Both dishes were simply phenomenal—each bite was an explosion of flavor, perfectly balanced and thoughtfully crafted. The Power Salad Bowl was refreshing and hearty, and the Banh Bi Salad had a unique and flavorful twist, with the shrimp adding an elevated touch. It's evident that the kitchen takes pride in their dishes, ensuring that every ingredient shines. The service was welcoming and attentive, enhancing the overall experience. The restaurant's atmosphere further charmed us. With cozy curbside seating and a charming loft space, it offered a perfect setting for both casual dining and a touch of sophistication. If you're in Mobile and searching for a memorable dining experience, Squid Ink Electric Eats should be at the top of your list. It's a place that seamlessly combines great food, excellent service, and a warm, inviting ambiance.

I think about this place often - the intimate lighting, the food, the drinks, the bobble heads of Guy Fieri... the whole vibe is just *chef's kiss*. We sat at the bar and ordered some drinks. Considering the name of the joint, I opted for the Black Cadillac which had squid ink in it - I immediately regretted this decision as I was afraid it would turn my lips black. Luckily, with a little dainty drinking techniques, all was well - and the drink was delicious enough to be ok if it did leave a stain. For dinner my husband and I split the Spanish SOS, Chicken Bahn Mi Bao and the Southern Viper Burger. All of it was delicious, but my favorite was the Spanish SOS (calamari, garlic chili flakes, lemon, parsley, butter, and bread crumbs over chargrilled bread) - i mean what's not to love (unless you don't like calamari of course). For dessert we ended with their take on Arancini which were super good and served with wonderful ice cream. The bar tender was friendly and attentive. Overall 10/10 would recommend and would go back in a heartbeat.

We have been wanting to visit this place after seeing it from multiple foodie review sites. We came on a Wednesday, lunch time. Service was prompt as we were seated right away in one of the outdoor tables since we had our puppy with us. The waitress even brought over a bowl of water for our pups. The calamari with squid ink aioli is a definite must try. Deep fried paella bites were a bit dry to our liking and it was the least favorite. Another standout were the bao buns. Buns were incredibly soft and the chicken thighs were flavorful. Fried deviled eggs were also good. It added a little texture to an otherwise mushy dish. We also ordered the seafood pasta which came in a very generous portion size that we had to take some home. The tomato sauce was more on the sweet side and it complemented the seafood perfectly. Squid Ink has a very innovative menu that we can't wait to try again. And any restaurant that are pet-friendly is always a plus for me!
